Arkfalls (major and minor) are generally challanging ... it's just that they don't scale with number of players, just as offensive capabilities of mobs don't scale!

This is truly the problem of group content: no increased mob count, no higher fire rate or damage - just more health!

Try to catch a Raider or 99er Arkfall late at night and solo it. It's fun and you really have to think how to proceed on the later phases. Piece of cake for 2-3 people, but you'll be hard pressed to not get surrounded and overwhelmed the moment you don't pay attention.

Major Arkfalls are not challenging with the possible exception of a blast pod wave of a destroy the hellbugs crystal. I've solo'd plenty of crystals simply by never slowing down. There isn't a wide enough spread of attacks coming down on you even in later waves to pose any risk.

I agree, I think the damage output of the boss enemies needs to be scaled up. Currently the only danger is the blast pods and they don't spawn at the boss fight. The symbiot on the cord, and the giant flying crawdad need to eat some their spinach and be a lot more dangerous.

For the symbiot, it could randomly snatch people and pull them into the top of the big nasty thing to regen health while insta killing the victim.

For the Flying crawdad, have its wings give off a paralitic spore like Mothra leaving the victims helpless until other players draw the beast away.

Last night we had a few Arkfalls spawning Emergencies directly on top of the Arkfall. I have to say that was the most fun I've had in this game with the sheer amount of chaos going on. Since the Hellbugs/Raiders were fighting each other as well as the hunters it made those Arkfalls absolutely amazing.

I honestly wish they would implement that permanently. I had a ******* blast and would actually do nothing but drive around doing Arkfalls if they were all like that.

Do the major arkfalls in San Francisco late night, usually it's pretty empty. I saw a couple fail since there were only 2-3 people total. Soloing a major arkfall is pretty challenging once the blast pods and archers show up imo.

For a major arkfall? I've never received less than 3 keys even if I kill just 1 enemy. Are you sure it wasn't a minor arkfall? Those usually don't give keys or 1 at most.

I should've been more clearer when saying 'generally', since I intended to say 'even the casual crowd' without being seemingly arrogant.
You don't want to know how many tears I laughed reading some of the Nim and especially Jeckleg Joe complaints, but I still understand that not gamers are created equal ... this doesn't mean there's a line that shouldn't be crossed where content becomes inacceptably and r*tardedly easy for many of the potentially most loyal kind of gamers.

Of course you're right, Scrapper and Hellbug Arkfalls are easier than others and coincidence has it that those are also the only types with major versions. But then again, a difference in difficulty can be healthy and helps with catering to different kind of players and I'm aware that open world content should be widely accessible.

ps: Scrapper and Hellbug Arkfalls might also just be so laughable because of the weak Skitterlings, Warriors and Mongrels ... and broken cluster type weapons.

Soloing the phase with blast pods is easier to me than with most small groups. You don't buff their HP and no jerk runs through you while getting bombarded. ;>

I'd rather fight a group of Monarchs haha. Those blast pods are just so damn accurate and their range is ridiculous that if I step in bio once and slow, it's over. Maybe I need a higher cap shield. Although they are not as bad as grenadiers (who are basically grenade launcher snipers)

Monarchs are a joke for what is the ultimate mob type for Hellbugs ... Blitzers are more of a threat. -.-

And Blast Pods, while acurate will never hit as long as you move at least normal speed, you don't even have to run ... or if you have to take aim you can roll in addition to account for your slowed movement speed.
Almost the same goes for Grenadiers, although they start catching up with you if you never dodge because of their AoE radius.

It's all movment since hugging cover won't do anything for you ... maybe it's more a MMO than shooter thing.

Every other thread title features this mistake ... for better or worse, I don't even seem to notice anymore. : o
