not really. maximizing salvage per hour would be best accomplished by figuring out the quickest way to perform the pursuits, getting a ton of salvage all at once and completing them as fast as possible.

It's about finishing the pursuits + playing smart.

Also note - salvage gained from the Salvage Matrix does not count.

    ***UPDATE***

The contest is also about collecting Ark Salvage and being efficient. It is [ (total salvage earned during the 2 weeks) divided by (hours played within that 2 weeks) ] then we are encouraging efficient gameplay and not forcing a grind. That's the idea.

It's not really about finishing the pursuits + playing smart..

It's more about who has the most time to throw away on the game..

Those of us with full-time jobs and other responsibilities won't have a chance in hell.

I'm not really complaining. I'm not even really interested in it..

    Just stating the obvious.

How the hell do they expect anyone to win a shadow war when there are never any shadow wars? x.x

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

I would agree with you if it was total salvage; however, it is salvage per hour which means if you can play for one hour only during the time of the contest and collect 10K of ark salvage then your rate is 10K/hr...if someone else plays 24 hours straight and collects 240K of ark salvage then that person's rate is 10K/hr...basically, it boils down to maximizing your ark salvage collection during the time given that you have to play...whether that be an hour, two, 12, 24, or more...

Im not sure if I should laugh or cry at how flawed the concept for this competition is.

Not to mention how easy it is to figure out what has the best salvage rate per hour, this is a grind competition and nothing more.

The fact that salvage from the matrix dosnt count makes it more flawed, it actually limits the most effective way to gain per hour to one single activity, which I will not name, but its so simplistic that I assume a majority of the player base already know what I am talking about.

Then again, I always assumed the contests for this would end up being nothing more then grinds.

As for the prize, sounds like it will be nothing more then a portrait in the show.

Not to mention EU pc still dosnt have access to either the pursuits or contracts, so we are already falling behind.

They said in another post, your likeness ends up on a wanted poster in the show that appears for about 2 seconds.

    From the rules:

This does not change my assessment a lot. Basically it comes down to this: Do the pursuits, then find a good spot / challenge to grind Salvage fast and do this for an hour or so. Then don't log in again until the contest is over so you get to keep your high rate because you don't run the risk of idling. Did I miss anything?

Edit: Thing I missed: Buy Boosts!
