Go do rampages for 1 hour, log off until contest ends, profit. (lets not forget americans + ps3 were able to finish the contracts before contest started, so theyr average will be alot better regardless)

The more I think about it the more this contest pisses me off...

Edit: See poster above me to came to same conclussion, and I suspect its a conclussion alot of people will come to, infact this contest could very well turn defiance into a ghost town for the duration of the contest, if people actually care about winning the contest.

your best bet is going to be having a buddy in vent tell you when a major arkfall is about to be completed. Then you log on, teleport to them get the 750 salvage then log off until the next arkfall.

Does anybody know if the boosts count for this?

This does not change my assessment a lot. Basically it comes down to this: Do the pursuits, then find a good spot / challenge to grind Salvage fast and do this for an hour or so. Then don't log in again until the contest is over so you get to keep your high rate because you don't run the risk of idling. Did I miss anything?

...if this is how the contest is going to be done...trion really didn't think this through.

Not to mention EU pc still dosnt have access to either the pursuits or contracts, so we are already falling behind.

Everyone is due to the fact that they "announced the competition after it has started. The fact that EU players are left with even less of a chance due to asynchronous patching (for no given reason mind you) is even more apalling.

Also:

Canadian residents will be required to answer an additional mathematical question in order to claim their prizes.

Well based on rules European residents (-ps3) have already lost this competition, with americans being able to complete the other requirements before theyr "played" even gets added in, there is absolutely no way in hell a european will be able to catch up to a american that grinds for a hour now, and logs off.

I just can't get over how unbeliveably flawed this concept is, seriously trion? was this contest thought up by one of the staffs children? clearly there went absolutely no forethought into it.

And lets not forget that if you even think about playing the game normally for fun during that 13ish day period, its a automatic loss because your average goes down the drain.

It's about finishing the pursuits + playing smart.

Also note - salvage gained from the Salvage Matrix does not count.

It's about finishing the pursuits and grinding rampages for an hour, then not playing for the next two weeks.

Since 'earned' scrip does include trades... you can see how this is going to go.

(1) Player one earns lots of scrip and logs out
(2) Rest of clan earns lots of scrip over the 2 weeks
(3) Player one logs in and get give scrip from the rest of the clan
(4) WIN
