Why do people keep trying to compare this to WoW or any other MMO rpg? They keep saying how all the other MMO's had issues when they first came out. Yea, they did, but I distinctly remember playing WoW for longer than a week before seeing EVERYTHING it had to offer.

"But,but, but we get future content on this game for free....forever"
Yea, Kill x amount of this thing that you have already killed a million times this week for a title or a re-colored helmet (because new skins are for paying customers.....oh wait...). So other than episodic pursuits (recycling), we can expect maybe a different skin alien race if you buy the xpac (because races and origins mean so much) before this game craps out and implodes.

The thing that broke the back of the camel however was the promise Dev's made of a "Auto-Translate system" this was so we could game with the already abundant Japanese gamers. This was a lie and it was nothing more then a "Pick a word, put it in a sentence system" This resulted in English people asking for groups like this "You Group yes?" Which is ok, but asking for help with a quest, like say my ninja quest. I had to ask like this. "You cave help yes?" Luckily someone understood me and helped me but that isn't the point. Final Fantasy had time to fix its mistakes, just as defiance will have as well. IF you don't like the game, that is fine. Leave and don't come back or come back later, stop making a fuss about it.
and your point? i was playing ffxi ingoring all that. i played this casualy ignoring stuff. and i played monster hunter on psp in full japanese kanji w/e ignoring that.

My point was this. Final Fantasy had its flaws and they fixed them. Do you honestly think it didn't have its own degree of player bashing and maturity downscales? Yeah it did, just as Defiance does. Just as Everquest did. Just as SWG did. The difference is this, people don't want to see it every thirty minutes with a new title. The OP was basically saying the game is a infant, I said the same. If you don't like it, it is fine to voice your opinion but it is kinda like religion. Just don't rub off on other people and try and urge them to yourside. I still like the game but I have taken a break from it until it has a bit more content.

Why do the fans keep pointing to other dissapointing, MMO failures while stating that the "haters" have lofty standards.

Sorry.. I expected more than what I got.

Just because it shares shame with other bad MMO's is hardly a reason to lament the cries of consumers who feel cheated.

Oh nice, fellow FFXI players! That game still holds a warm place in my heart. I started playing XI during the pc launch, waaaay back when, lol. Played on Valefor server up until I left the game just a few years ago. Guess you could say I played XI way too much, lol. All of the original members of the linkshell I joined when the game first launched were very intense players like myself, it was amazing how we all grew so close over the years, and after spending countless hours online all together we became very close friends, both in game and IRL. My husband and I first met in game, and after probably five years of gaming in XI together across the country from each other, we started visiting each other. Now we're married and have three kids! Another great friend I met in XI, we lived over 1200 miles apart, but had become so close we both flew to be by the other's side when we each gave birth to our first children. It is crazy thinking back on those days and what fun XI was, and I'm sure still is.

Okay, lets compare this game with another MMO - which launched with huge numbers. Lost nearly all of them after the 1st month - then went f2p.

DCUO is an mmo that is both PC and PS3. The game had small amount of content at launch. It was easy to get through the 30 levels and then....nothing...not really any end content.

DCUO launched January 2011. I went back 2 weeks ago as I have a lifetime account. All I can say is wow. The developers have made heaps of improvements. improved mail system, crafting, lots of armor/costume piece choices and your own lair. You really feel like you are working towards something and they are finally advancing the story next month with a new power set.

What I hope.....is that Defiance looks and sees that they need to put more depth in the game. Basicly evolve it and you know what. I am willing to keep coming back to see what they do to improve the game....

Agreed. I thought Guild Wars 2 was bad but then I bought Defiance. I was expecting more from the so called MMO than what Trion delivered.

Dissatisfied players have just as much of a valid reason to use the forums as satisfied players.

While I only have experience from my 10 plus years in FFXI I can tell you endgame didn't come til later, most games of this type ease you into the world and try not to overwhelm people. Everyone plays games at a different level, some hardcore, some not so. Some people can beat Nim easy some people complain he's too hard for example. I don't remember, with it being so long ago but it might have been over a year before FFXI got endgame content, which constantly evolves since people constantly will beat what's given then cry for more content.
Also keep in mind games that have been out for 10 years + now still release updates and patches that need to be patched or fixed. They can't always foresee every issue in testing.
It's not about the inability to "foresee every issue in testing". Some of the design decisions made were/are quite poor and WERE BROUGHT UP in Alpha & Beta testing and ignored. ln particular, the UI and chat system.
