Because...unlike most MMOs, if I don't play for a couple days, I haven't missed out on something others have received or gone through or haven't "fell behind" to the extent that I now have to play catch up.

Because....unlike most MMOs, I really don't have to group with people to play or complete most of everything in the game.

Because...my buddies who just started playing don't have to feel like I'm playing in God-Mode because I'm at an EGO Rating of 1184 and they're barely 20.

The list can go on, but, I'm now realizing how bad I fell for the Troll-Bait here.....
    I've got a fever...and the only prescription is...more cowbell!

People say "Psshh, this game has raids, and PVP and blah blah .." about games like WOW .. but break down the end game of those games.. what do you do? Ultimately you grind the same raids over and over and over till you get gear. Thats what happened in GWs, GW2, SWTOR, DAOC, EQ, EQ2, etc. Ultimately.. you end up repeating the same events towards one goal. Stuff.

Now I am sure people will chime in here and say "yeah but you don't fight the same four mobs over and over.."! Don't you though? I mean you can dress it up as an orc warrior or gnoll fighter or whatever you want to call it ... its a berk swinging at you with a sword. Pretty terrain and a ton of zones are fine and all I guess too .. expect how often do you go back to those zones once you actually out level them other than on an alt and for that matter, how much time do you truely spend looking at scenery?

Why I like Defiance is I can log in and work towards "stuff" in a much wider variety of ways, because Key-codes, even though they have made them a bit harder to get, can still be acquired in alot of different ways. I can run Co-ops, I can do ark-falls, I can revisit mines and farms... I can even still get them from emergencies via breaking down loot. Ultimately, I can get the goal we all actually are after in MMOs .. stuff.. by just doing random stuff. I never have to repeat my actions. I don't have to find a massive raid, I don't have to paint by numbers my way through a dungeon, and I don't have to worry about 'maximizing' my character either. I have the freedom to play my way and still prosper as a character. Thats freaking awesome to me.

On top of that its the first in a long line of MMos to try the twitch play and really get it. Its the only one I can remember since really Fallen Earth or DDO where I felt my hand eye coordination actually meant something rather then stupid mechanics.

So do I genuinely like Defiance and am I genuinely still enjoying myself after months... cause yes, I was an alpha tester... of play? Yep yep and yep.
    Agree with this!

For me, in "traditional MMOs" where people speed run the same dungeons over and over for loot (i.e. repeat content), the loot is not "content" for me. I realize it is for some other players, but it isn't for me.

This is why I grow bored in traditional MMOs so quickly. The gameplay is boring, the AI is simply "run up and melee", and you are usually stuck with a set class with little variation in gameplay ... ever.

Defiance offers lots of freedom, and I value it highly.

I don't get it. Why do these threads even exist? Ok so you got bored of Defiance. That's nice. But why start a thread on it? If you don't like it that's cool, just go back to playing Call of Duty 38 or whatever number they are up to. I like the game cause it's fun to ME. Don't really feel the need to explain myself.

Now out of curiosity, I ask why? Is it that you play with your friends? The lack of content has stopped me from playing for quite some time.
I play because I didn't blow through the content in the first two weeks the game was out...I am taking my time doing side quests an arkfalls, co-op when I feel like it and just generally waiting for the DLC that will come along down the line...

I'm enjoying the game cause I like just wandering around, killing things and helping people. I don't know call me simple but somedays I just really REALLY don't feel like doing much especially in my other games and will find myself playing. While I know it has faults and could certainly do with some more things I still enjoy a bit of what we have.

Maybe if this games population dwindles, we can call ourselves the "Defiance few"! HA! Get it!? Cause it's a reference! To the TV show! Or more specifically the battleofdef...I'll show myself out.
You should be ashamed of yourself.

Actually you did say acting (edit your original post if you want to "act" like you didn't).

The game does need more content but i do still enjoy playing Defiance, why? Why do you really care?

I would be enjoying Defiance right now but I'm also a full time college student, and this is the last week of the semester so right now while I should be working on putting together a presentation of a project for tomorrow morning, I am instead procrastinating, reading these boards and checking different vendor specials in-game.
