Age of Conan. I don't think there has to be said any more.
Combat Arms said there game would never become Pay2Win...they even had it on their homepage...2 month later...they released "Specialists" which could wield M32 grenade launchers and M134 miniguns. My friend even called it, took a screenshot of their website and called them out...they said the image was photoshop'ed and removed and deleted his thread.
This brings up another thing...this game has an item shop (Cash Shop) which means...if they really wanted to...sell rare gear for real currency. If the show ever flops or the game starts to go under...they will do it...cuz money talks.

My favourite lie on RuneScape was when they said they'd be hot on banning real world traders who give an unfair advantage in game, they then proceeded to make extra bankspace sellable and pets that had unique abilities. They claimed that to balance this they'd make them available on the loyalty shop (a sort of bonus points store for playing as a p2p member for a while). This never ended up happening. It's been about 2 years since they said they'd do this.
