I have been part of the skill games that go to item games before, and it does not make the game more popular, it just makes the game more of the same. Instead, they should further incentivise skill with greater recognition and awards for performance. Go with what makes this game fun and run with it, don't change the game.
Defiance broke away from the standard formula and let anybody be anything they wanted to be at any time. No real classes, no incentive to re-roll (which shoots their own DLC in the foot) and random loot which means diddly squat. Whites with the same stats are oranges? Oh and lets not forget they contradict themselves with "hey mod your weapon! its part of the depth in the game" which later you are FORCED to ditch because it halts your overall progression.
Putting an incentive for people to play a game does not ruin games that have some real depth and balance to them...
Also, you are right - new games come out and people leave.. but good games people only vacation away from and return if its good enough... you really think if Defiance doesnt start putting things into the game people actually WANT that it will survive? This game is on 2 consoles at the END of their life cycle.. that leaves PC on a flooded MMO market.. seriously guys they are acknowledging something has to be done for a reason.
Dont bother running, you will only die tired.

Exactly right Taaltos, a third person shooter first. While I sympathize with the PVE players looking for an MMO, my personal opinion is that the PVE and MMO elements are simply what lie between PVP matches, co-op missions, shadow wars... you know, shooter stuff.

Players are going to blaze through the PVE content as fast as Trion can put it out. It is the quality of the PVP and straight up shootin' activities that will ensure long life and happiness.

I am dying to see if more PVP maps puts cloaked shotguns in their place, or if the shotguns and cloak are broken regardless of map. I say make shotgun damage fall off fasters, and reduce damage of shotguns against shields! (And while they are at it, get rid of random spawning... team spawn area and spawn on ally options would really improve the experience.)

Well, if that PvP Focus really is the case, Trion better get on the ball, yesterday, about the hacking on the PC platform (this is what happens when key data is placed client side).

Otherwise, they might want to look into some industry history on what PvP hacking, and a failure to do something about it quickly, did to DC Universe Online.

I play maybe one hour a week. Gets no more casual than that. This game has no content. The occasional episode tie-in consisting of one pursuit, doesn't constitute as "new content".

But I guess you're right, instead of playing that one hour, I'll just check back in next week. See if any of the scores of bugs/glitches have been fixed, or if any new content has actually been added for the first time ever.

I'll just keep checking back in, since that's your solution to everything.... play it slow and check back in. smh
A Strange Game. The only winning move is not to play.

You like bigger numbers. We get it.

What you don't get is the fact that those bigger numbers only mean jack **** when you go back to earlier areas that you should have the skill and knowledge to face roll no matter what gear you're using, while the content suited to your gear "progression" is scaled up so those numbers are offset by increased mob stats for an effective difference of 0 over not having the gear and the mob scaling in the first place.

Yes, I adamantly disagree with the removal of key codes from all emergencies.

I reserve the right to take personal offense at anyone who disagrees with me, because I find blatant stupidity offensive.

It's nice that they have posted a list of features they have gathered, but what good is it when there's no mention of any time frame on when any of those features will be added? How much credibility do they have at this point considering things that were broken in the beta are still broken now and there's a laundry list of significant problems that have yet to be resolved?

Quite a bit actually. The core of the game is there, and awesome.

Show me a game without bugs, and I'll do sexy naughty things to you.

People flip out when things aren't added on the time frame they give out. Every time a game's release gets pushed back because it wasn't ready and they had to work on some issues, people will whine about it even when it was for the best, they get upset and some of them cancel their pre-orders.

We would love to post specific dates/times of when this content, fixes, upgrades, and updates will be available - but the fact is that it takes time.

Some of these features will begin to creep out very soon while some of the bigger and better ideas will take more time.

I hope you can see how active we are in making the game better with almost daily server updates - this is indicative of the way we will continue to operate and give you folks the things that you want.
