My thoughts on Trions latest blog.

First off, I am not trying to *itch and complain, at all. I have high hopes for this game that I hope to keep going. The game has huge potential to just be even more amazing. But on to my thoughts.

Trion, I love the long post. It is always great to read lengthy public posts from developers. But they need to be doing this every day. Give us an idea of what they did today. What they plan on doing tomorrow. MMO's and games in general will fail if developers to not keep an open line of communication with their player base.

I liked seeing the list of ideas but what I didnt like was they stated that some of the ideas had already been scrapped and that some of the things from the list wouldnt be implemented. Unless I read it wrong, but if I didnt I think to myself " Why even put them in the list?" Personally I was in love with everything they posted so it bums me out a bit that some of the things may not see the light of day.

I laughed at the singling out Massively in the blog. Although I disagree with some of Massivelys points I also agree with a good many of them. Again that falls on the lack of communication with players.

Lastly. The list of things was nice and pretty and fun to read, but how about a list of things that we can actually expect soon? Maybe a list of all the bugs in the game that need fixed that you are going to patch soon? Talking about things way in the future doesn't help fixing things today, or even tomorrow (unless they put that entire list live today or tomorrow)

    END RANT

    Agreed.

There are many things on that list that should have been in the game already, and from the way they worded it we are not to be expecting anything soon or even at all.

Still nothing worthy to get excited about which is confirmed.

Massively supplies some of the best coverage of the game.

    Talk is cheap.

So far- I've seen very little in the way of actual improvement (minor bug-fixes aside).

Hmm, I both love and hate this post. It makes me excited on the surface but my inner pessimist sense double-speak and subtext. There was so many instances of him clearly waiving responsibility to that list. It's a very real possibility that the majority of that list will never see the light of day. However, I am an optimist at times too, if that list gets put into effect this game would consume so much of my time because of pure awesomeness.

What I find the most alarm is their constant lack of info on a dlc. This isn't a dlc coming in months it should of been here weeks ago, therefore it would logical reason that it was already mostly complete. I'm all for them working out bugs and avoiding issues like the last patch, but it just leaves me with a bad feeling.

-Worst case - the post was total bullsh*t, only to quell the forums. Trion being completely "protected" by "well we only said we noticed these issues"

-Best case - this game will finally be the 10/10 I wanted/paid for =]
Be WARNED: I play Xbox with a mouse and a PlayStation move controller... I will out-shoot, out-turn, and out-play you every time at 4000 dpi... Just saying =]

They have stated that a patch is coming which should make said changes. That is supposed to come out 4/29 so hopefully it will later today or tomorrow.

Yup... So far the only patch notes to be seen still point to the one and only update.

Any idea what's in today's patch?

    ....No?

    Hmmm....

I don't know that it was ********, but I will say it's nothing I haven't seen before from a developer when an MMO has a shoddy launch and they are trying to perform damage control. /shrug.

Great points from everyone. I am also very upset with the lack of follow through from Trion. Yesterday's post, after a good nights sleep and some cardio in the morning, now seems to me as a " Hey people are complaining we never talk on the forums so lets make a huge blog post to make up for it, we can always do it again in 2 weeks" post. I highly doubt we see any of the items mentioned in the blog post come to fruition. I would also love for them to prove me wrong. I hear people say it's not an MMO, you can't compare it to "X".

You can not acknowledge it if you dont want to, but this IS an MMO, not an MMORPG but an MMOShooter, I would compare it to planet side if i compared it to anything. The back of the box says 1-10,000+ players for online play. THIS IS AN MMO. There are certain aspects in an MMO that you kind of just have to have. And above all the main aspect is conversation with your players, and follow through with promises. Even if some of those promises break parts of the game, you work hard to fix it to make sure what you promised works. As a MMO fan I would rather a buggy update come out and have them patch it. At least they are delivering content.

I am sure someone will troll this post but just my thoughts.
