[PS3] Controller still has issues post patch

The PS3 joysticks still have deadzone/sensitivity problems. After the latest patch this problem is not as bad as it was but it still happens.

    * Left stick (move forward/run) - Can be moving or running forward and when the stick is returned to centre your character is supposed to stop but instead keeps moving forward. This problem is bad because if you have the perk to take less damage while standing still, this bug makes that useless.

    * Right stick (aim) - Aiming is also affected by poor deadzones/sensitivity. When the right stick is centred, your aim is supposed to stop moving but instead is continues to drift. Aiming also seems to suffer from an increased sensitivity right arround the centre position of the stick, meaning any tiny movement of the stick is amplified and moves your aim much more than it should. Its my understanding that the more you deflect the aim joystick the faster your aim should move, which is not always the case. I also find that when standing still and swapping to aiming down sights (ADS) my charcter will start to move forward, swapping back and my character is standing still again.

Both of the above problems mean that most of your time is spent battleing with the controls instead of enjoying the game, trying to get your character to do what you want it to do.

In honesty, I am left wondering how such a bug could get past any kind of play-testing as this problem is so obvious to anybody spending more than five minutes playing! I have posted about it before and this problem is not unique to me and does not happen in any other games.

Although I have read on the forums of other players having these controller problems, I have not seen anybody from Trion even acknowledge the problem exists.

I am confirming the left stick bug after the last patch. Really annoying, can't even play.

    Thank you.

What's your stick sensitivity and do you have auto aim on?

I'm a little under full sensitivity and have auto aim off and don't have any of the problems you listed.

My stick sensitivity in the options doesn't appear to affect the controller issues I listed from occurring, but it is set to default.

Are you on the North American (NA) servers? If so I am thinking it may be a problem associated with the EU servers only.

Can one of the developers/moderators confirm the controller issues are officially recognised and being actively worked on? Thanks.

I don't think this is a bug. I have had no problems with my controller at all, but my roommate (who is hard on controllers and so has his own) does have this problem. The problem is the PS3's sticks. Especially the left stick if you play a lot of FPS games. They can become slightly off center. The problem is this game has no or little dead zone for the sticks and no way in the settings to increase the dead zone setting. Having an option to increase the dead zone and not just the sensitivity would probably fix your issue. Hopefully Trion can implement this little settings tweak without to much hassle.

Still having terrible problems with this game and the ps3 controller. Since the latest patch controlling my ingame character is even more messed up, all it wants to do is keep running forward. Also when I manage to get my character to stand still, and switch to aiming down sights, it starts to move forward again. Swapping back to 3rd person view and I am back to standing still. This can't be down to the controller so please no more faulty controller arguments!

When can we expect a fix for this? Will patch 1.020 have this fix included? At the very least please acknowledge that the developers are aware of this problem.

    Update...

I posted an ingame ticket and the reply from a GM suggested a couple of solutions:

    * first a temporary solution, I could press L3/R3 on the controller which should stop my character from constantly running forward.

Having tried this and it does nothing, nor does it stop my character from constantly moving forward. I'd say its a VERY temporary solution!

    * secondly to delete the defiance "Game Data Files". From the main playstation menu, select game, then select game data file, and delete everything related to defiance. *NOTE Do not to delete the save game files (although definace doesnt create any!).

Well after having deleted the two files in "Game Data Files" menu and had to resinstall everything from disk and re-download all the patches, I can safely say this doesn't work either and the problem persists.

    Dead zone adjustment

I get this a lot with three of my ps3 controllers (I have 4) I just buy a new one when it starts to become an issue.
This is probably an issue Sony should look into and offer a pad configuration to adjust the dead zones of 'well used' pads.
I have this problem with a number of games, but it is more noticeable on defiance.
