    The way I always looked at piracy was that it just equals slower business growth. I like to think that majority of people who pirate will not buy the product anyway if piracy didn't exist. I also don't agree that piracy is stealing because it doesn't actually cost anyone, stealing a chair would mean that the company will have one less chair in their stock and has to pay to make a new one which is not the case with data such as a movie or a song. Piracy is not the huge deal it appears to be, companies simply have to make an appealing scenario to get the customer to support them with a purchase, a bit like kickstarters work, which also ensures that the product will be of fair quality (false advertisement = legal action). That said, I don't really condone piracy.
