Outdated? No it will be the most advanced console on its generation. If you compare it to gaming pc's yes it has average specs, but what did you expect? A console to come out with specs better than the pc market, and for a long period of time? Insanity. Also you should be buying one just for the exclusives, if you like good games.
before anyone gets too fancy and technical

you just spend $200 more than an xbox or playstation and got a fully working beast as your slave. this thing (I have a similar build with 12GB-Ram) works on the highest resolution without any jitters and lags and what ever. pc beats any gaming console every day, we all know that and most of us tend to ignore that little fact.
like I said it's $200 more and a laptop and I can still outrun any gaming console for the next 2-3 years.
please don't tell me about virus and Trojans etc, install some decent anti-virus/internet protection software and watch that beast run!

on the topside, you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to get a decent gaming machine. alienware is not the best, it's just expensive to loot dumb people and take their money in one strike

hm.. ahead of it's time was dreamcast.. xbox was already well behind at launch in hardware terms.. "3 3.2ghz procs!!!" all running at 1.6 max.. (HT) and still not doing indepentant processing (that's a programming issues though) dvd drive? who doesn't? (later with some poor attempt to secure hddvd, an inferior medium) seriously limited audio codec, and the proprietary connection issues for other devices lead to the only thing the xbox ever did get a higher rating on.. being the most hacked system produced, because, well, you had to hack it to get even the slightest form of functionality.

Oh..really? Cool man ......uuuum well yea it was still considered ahead or at least on par with the current generation of PC's at the time....
Pokepokepokemon.....gotta catch em all buddy! they won't do it them selves
I was a PC gamer, then I became a console gamer, then I went back to PC Gaming and never looked back. However, I do miss the conveniences of console gaming, and not only that, console gaming has given me thousands of hours of entertainment playing Halo with my pals on one giant tv, among other games.
One thing I like about my PC, is that I can use my wired xbox controller to use for certain games on PC
