even out of the box it has google web browsing., from day 1... not particularly hard to do, since most things come with google in them these days, but this was from back in 2006.., just saying.. you underestimate, and not know the facts of the capabilities of devices..

sure.. you can have every toy in the world all wired up, but in today's economy, it would certainly be wiser to get products that last, are relatively cheap for what they can do, and can do, at the least, their job well, as well as do other jobs. you could piece together a pc to do portions, or almost all of what we want, just as you could get an xbox, then a bluray player, then something else to do pc stuff on (most likely a crap box pc). A smart consumer, in trying times.. might just instead decide to cover all those devices with one, that won't burn down their house... or require other microsoft programs to operate as media servers (ahem.. xbox requires a pc with WMP to use it as a "media" server (I use that term loosely with xbox, as it cannot do 3d, TRUE 1080p (it outputs a 1080p signal but not the resolution), or uncompressed audio..

Just saying.. don't be soo quick to rule something out without knowing all that it is capable of.
Yeah 99% of your post is BS. Also nobody has a 2TB ssd they didn't even exist back when PS3 came out, and if they did make one it would be about $2k. Also you can't do anything else that you just posted.

1: The least you could do, when refuting a statement, is to do it with facts.. had you any, you would not bother refuting the post.

2: There ARE 2TB SSD's, about to hit industry and consumer shelves REAL SOON, and yes.. they will be VERY expensive, they have all ready been in production for a while now. You talk an awful lot about knowing pc parts.. any monkey can build a pc, its as easy as insert tab A into slot B.. being able to build a pc DOES NOT make you an expert on PC's, or, for that mater, an expert in general on consumer electronics..

3: If you had bothered to read the post, I stated clearly that the SSD did not come WITH the console, but was the addition to it, just as one can upgrade their PC, they can easily upgrade a ps3.. without any voiding of policies and coverage. (the is a smart thing for the consumer, for they can purchase the cheapest model, with the smallest storage in it, and simply upgrade to what they want)

4: again.. if you knew anything about it, you would know that you most definitely can do ALL of those things with a ps3.. ignorance is not an excuse to forgive you for lack of research into a subject you claim to have expert knowledge in.

I am done with you.. acquire knowledge through research of facts and return to debate this, or simply reply again in ignorance as before....

Yeah, "are about to" as in there not available YET. And if building a PC is that easy than why does nobody do it? Everybody keeps complaining about wasting to much money yet if that was the case they would build there own PC's and cut close to half the cost off. But the don't because it's to hard for them.

You said right here "my first ps3 not only has a blazing fast tc166 2tb ssd in it" And no you can't upgrade a PS3 that's the whole reason why they have such crappy graphics because there not upgradable. You can't just toss a new graphic card or cpu in a PS3 heck you can't even upgrade the ram. HDD might be possible but that's NOT going to increase performance.

Also a google web browser was not in the ps3 on day one considering they just started talking about maybe installing it a year ago (not sure if they have yet) but it was diffidently not in there on day 1 like you say. Also here's a quote from a guide that tell's you how to install linux on ps3:

"It works like a computer from 1990 and is slower then one to! If anyone is considering Installing Linux on your PS3 For god sakes don't do it. You literally can't do anything on it."

So why they heck would anybody do that even if you would have the knowledge to do it?

you can do some of the things he said. but not all of them.

and the things you can do, you'd do them more optimally on PC, obviously. like web browsing and productivity work (through web office apps on PS3).

as far as the "curing cancer" thing, there WAS an application on the PS3 that allowed you to contribute processing power to the Folding@Home Protein Folding project, which is used by Scientists to study diseases like Huntington's, Alzheimer's and Cancer. what the Sony Salesman doesn't mention, is that the PS3 app was closed down a few months ago, so you can't do it anymore.

overall, this is a decently entertaining thread. A Sony Salesman and a PC Elitist arguing over whose more snobby.

personally, I have a Console for gaming/entertainment, and a decent but not gaming-specced(Intel HD 3000 ewwwwwww) laptop for everything else. and I'm content with that. and really nothing anyone can say will convince me that going that route was a mistake.

will likely upgrade to the next Xbox, but am waiting for details before I make a definite decision on it or the PS4.

Apparently yours are as well. But I'm done here. I'm always going to prefer console over PC. And even after buying both the Xbox AND PS3, I've still spent less than a gaming PC would've cost.

exactly. and I don't have to worry about whether I need to upgrade any components to play the latest game. and my games still look pretty damn good on my HDTV.

only thing missing from Consoles is good RTS and MMOs of any kind. and the latter is slowly beginning to change.

PC Elitists can be as snobby as they want, and call everyone who has ever played on a console a "casual" or whatever term-of-the-month they want to come up with, but it won't change my enjoyment of my console. It'll mostly just make me laugh.

Halo Wars? I think it's a good game, but I don't like RTS games on console. They just feel unnatural to me with a controller. Too many actions, not enough buttons. But whad'ya know, the one thing I prefer to do on PC over console, LoL!

I think the PS4 will be a great console in my opinion as will the next Xbox. I was one protecting the PS4 saying it would be able to achieve much better visuals than what was shown there, yano..like Crysis 3? It's just going to be outdated post-launch which is disappointing but was expected, and this thread was to be a not very funny joke after all lol.

Your ignorance on the subject is incredible. Thank you. You've given my entire department a great laugh. You point is clearly not from one of experience. You see dx10 has a higher value than dx9 therefore is better and magically makes everything instantly better. Thank you.

The OP pic, it's comparing tech demo for a console which hasn't even been released to a game for PC which is 3rd in series AND you can't compare expressions with a single pic...

Also, of course it's gonna be outdated, compared to PC! Compare it to WiiU...

    @rathb18
I think I haven't seen a post from you which didn't include you bashing consoles and praising PC like it was illegal to think other way than you? You keep saying console gamers don't know what they're missing etc. Well, I do, but you know? I don't care.. I can have as much fun with a ps1 game as with a high end gaming pc game released in 2013...

The problem I have with you is that you insult console gamers because they don't happen to be into PC gaming... I have no problems with PC gamers, I like watching streams where people play awesome PC games BUT I also enjoy playing with my console.
