Delta Bunker West Weirdness

I seem to have found myself in a really weird situation. I was in Delta Bunker West and found Von Bach with Cass. Then I was left behind by them and I had to shoot down the mutants that were performing an ambush.
I then exited the game because I had to go to the bathroom. I come back and start up the game again and I'm in front of Delta Bunk West with the assignment "find Von Bach". However if I enter it gives me the assignment "Eliminate Mutants, Mutants ambush". So I did something I was not supposed to do by temporary exiting the game it seems :-)... because there are no mutants anywhere... if I go back outside I'm there with Cass again. If I go inside I'm alone supposedly with an ambush but there's no mutant around.

Is there something that can be done to reverse this?

someone up here already adviced me to abandon the mission and I can do that. Perhaps I can still do it at a later time without being inside the bunker without any mutants. Thanks for now.
