Activity: Solo Only

So I've noticed that some people I play with won't show up on the map when I group up with them. Then when I check their status in the Social submenu, it shows that they're activity is Solo Only. Does anyone know how to toggle this on and off?

Sometime type off bug i guess. Happened to me as well couldnt see my friend but he was standing in front of me. Couldn't group either.

They may have a solo mission as their current mission.
