I really love how some guys have to state "100% straight" because they play a female and just need to throw that out there.

In muds (precursor to modern mmo games) I mainly played a male but at the same time I was the prime god so sometimes Pyros other times Pyria and she was much scarier that the male side, having a lot of experience in roleplay when I joined EQ got into an argument with a female friend that was based around the idea that no man can properly play a female, our heads are wired differently so how we think a female would act is not usually how they actually would, she was running with an all female lesbian guild on 7th hammer.

I made the silly male boast that I could play a female and not even her and friends (mostly real life friends from the netherlands) would be able to see through it, so I created a dark elf female, asked my wife for advice actually did research and for 4 months I played siliara and it is the only time I have lied online, as a roleplay challenge it was an amazing experience but when after 4 months I actually told them, they didn't believe me, even petitioned for a GM to check my account hadn't been hacked by a "man".

I have had both male and female characters in most games from SWG to City of heroes sometimes it is for the beauty of the character other times because of roleplay but I always let anyone know if they get the wrong idea.

I usually ask for the opinion of my wife on any female that I create if it is going to be a roleplay char, although as for sexuality I would say 80/20 mainly interested in females but damn in the Ds scene before I retired I met some amazingly hot guys.

My wife on the other hand plays mainly females because she thinks games always do the female character better in rl she is Bi which is a lot of fun when you both have the same taste in women.

I didn't see anyone defend his or her heterosexuality... As for what I've posted, it was a joke. My friends and I make jokes like this all the time for laughs.

    Hi all,

My first reply, but I wanted to answer to this, since I've been asked this in other MMO's too.

I like to call it the Ripley sydrome.
Remember Ripley from Aliens 2 ? I love that movie......and it was the first movie, that showed me a female character kicking ***. Sure I watched Terminator, Predator, American Ninja, (insert your 80's movie here) and I just came to the conclusion, a guy kicking *** is expected and boring to me. A female doing this just seems fresher.

(P.S: I always loved China O'Brien more than American Ninja....guess why, lol ?)

So I like my characters to be female....makes better storytelling to me (well, not in all instances). I think Kill Bill would have sucked if Uma was played by a man, because there's like a million movies like that before.

Anyone know the anime Hellsing ? I'm prolly the only one who thinks it would have been even better if Alucard was dead and Mina Harker was working for Hellsing and being Ms. Bad ***.

In a story I experience for myself, I prefer my characters to be female......and a alien female ark hunter sounds way cooler than a male to me.

(P.S: I hope at least half of the people here actually know the movies I mentioned or I'm really getting old)

Gee, my in game avatar is female, named Ellie Dog, cause one of my dog's name is Ellie and she was a she, but is now an it. Guess it might have something to do with the hours of running and ducking in game, just like thinking of my little pup kicking big dog butt. All the male prototypes seem to have fallen off the Gears of War type.

I don't buy the whole "I like looking at a female's butt" excuse. That would mean you are so homophobic that you can't even look at a virtual man's rear or you're so horny you have to stare at a female's rear. No, I think the men who do play as females all the time want to play as a female for the experience of being a woman.

As for me, I play a good mix of both men and women in games. Either gender I play though I always make them an extension of my own personality and physical appearance. So in TOR for example, I have my Jedi Knight who is an extension of my good values, like selflessness, sacrifice, and hope. I still allow myself some dark side moments because that's what I'd do in that moment. Like helping a couple hide their relationship. Then my female Sith is an extension of my crueler and primal side, like anger, pitilessness, selfishness, and lust. Again though, I do some light side things because it's what I would do.

That's the way I make characters in games with decision making. As for Defiance, I only have one toon right now, but I'm thinking about making a new, female human. The thing that sucks though about Defiance is the lack of replay value when it comes to new toons. Since everyone's pretty much the same class, there's no reason to make a new toon.

I have thought of the idea of a gay guy who may want to play on a girl character, but I've never really experienced anything like that.

It's also known that some guys play on a girl character to get free stuff by flirting.
Im bi, I have 1 male, and 2 female characters. But ive always played female chaacters since the street fighter days.......even the nes days, mario 2, if there was a female to choose, thats what I played. Dont know why. It appealed to me more. Tired of all games heroes bieng guys. It was pretty cool at the end of metroid when samus takes his helmet off and we realize hes a she was epic.. And ive always thought that ppl who think just because your a certain gender you should play as the same gender are pretty closed-minded.
I choose to play a fmale char. And I dont do it to get free stuff, or help from others(I pull my own weight and then some). Im not trying to make anyone think im a chick(I use my mic and chat). I dont do it to not have to stare at a guy toons ***, or because I prefer to stare at a female toons. I do hate the way some of the outfits look on guy toons though. I just do it because I prefer it. Its baffling to some, but pretty simple to me.

P.S. Theres just as many girls playing as guy characters out there......never assume to know the sex of any character in an online game. Your most likely wrong, lol.

I usually have two of each race (one male one female) but so far I've only made one char for defiance a male irathiant. but I plan to turn him female castithan when the DLC is released simply because the male costumes suck and I'm tired of having a purple-ish hulk walking around as my bullet sponge.

To those who play a male character the CODA commando outfit and Urban commando helm look great together. About 600 bits in the store together.
