I really love how some guys have to state "100% straight" because they play a female and just need to throw that out there.
In muds (precursor to modern mmo games) I mainly played a male but at the same time I was the prime god so sometimes Pyros other times Pyria and she was much scarier that the male side, having a lot of experience in roleplay when I joined EQ got into an argument with a female friend that was based around the idea that no man can properly play a female, our heads are wired differently so how we think a female would act is not usually how they actually would, she was running with an all female lesbian guild on 7th hammer.
I made the silly male boast that I could play a female and not even her and friends (mostly real life friends from the netherlands) would be able to see through it, so I created a dark elf female, asked my wife for advice actually did research and for 4 months I played siliara and it is the only time I have lied online, as a roleplay challenge it was an amazing experience but when after 4 months I actually told them, they didn't believe me, even petitioned for a GM to check my account hadn't been hacked by a "man".
I have had both male and female characters in most games from SWG to City of heroes sometimes it is for the beauty of the character other times because of roleplay but I always let anyone know if they get the wrong idea.
I usually ask for the opinion of my wife on any female that I create if it is going to be a roleplay char, although as for sexuality I would say 80/20 mainly interested in females but damn in the Ds scene before I retired I met some amazingly hot guys.
My wife on the other hand plays mainly females because she thinks games always do the female character better in rl she is Bi which is a lot of fun when you both have the same taste in women.
