Can't View Player Names

After the ps3 patch I can no longer see other players name info when aiming at them. I checked my settings to make sure it was set to on.

Im having the same problem as of tonight, I could see them after the patch yesterday, but as of 5 hours ago theyve dissapeared

There are serveral postings about this occurence and we still didn't get any Feedback if this actually is a bug or working as intended.
I'm saying this, because there are opinions that this could be part of the actions to increase the game's Performance.

I really hope, that this is not the case.
They should remove Names and switching to default Player Skins during Arcfalls for all i care but in crowded places without any fights taking place (The Crater and similar), where ppl simply interact, it is unacceptable to stare at nameless clones.

Arcfalls do have a kind of "Range", indicated by the red sphere on the Map.
My Suggestion is, to simply remove the names, reset the player Skins and disable Vehicles in these Areas.

Its not intended because every once in a while I am seeing the names above a player here and there. Plus yesterday after the patch I was able to see everyones name. This started last night round 1 am for me.

The rare sights of characters with names coming from players using voicechat.
I didn't log in since yesterday evening but i hope, i can confirm what you said about that overnight patch.
Assuming it is the Xbox360 Version you're talking about.

Edit: Nope, no patch and no Playernames
The only way to make names visible is to have the player in a group or point a BMG at the character.
And, as mentioned, the name on every player using the ingame voicechat is displayed.

So back to waiting on a statement if this is intended or not.

I forgot that these spheres can span over multiple arcfalls...in that case, it should be a feature that works in the closer range of a crystal.

Same here, its hard to get a group of 4 together when I cant even see their names.

When I am in a group I see the other group members player names and Gamertags and title. It does not matter if these are my Xbox friends or random people. Outside of a group I do not see them but also my Xbox friend list is full so I was thinking that may have something to do with it.

Yes, in a Group, you still can see the names of every groupmember.
That is what worries me that disabling names in the open world was actually intended.
But then again, there is an option in the Settings to toggle names and gamertags on and off.
