Sniper rifles! A bug or did I miss something?

Ok, so here I am. An old dog of war heading into battle yet again. Armed with a sniper rifle and a shot gun! (No particular weapon but of the said class.)
I locate a good high point to snipe from the distance before I intend to storm in with my shotgun to mop up the pieces.
I take aim, check the wind and say my little prayer to the sniper gods before I let fire the first round. Aimed straight at the retina of the ignorant 99er Mad Mattock. *BOOM* my bullet pierces the air and travels at supersonic speed for a second. The result should have been massive damage or an instant kill. Instead the 99er picks up it's cigarette and continues on with his guard duty. I curse, check the wind again and line up a safe shot at the torso this time. I pull the trigger and wait.
Again...no damage done to my target, the ignorant 99er picks his nose.
3 times the charm I think as I reload my barrel and fire a third shot also aimed at the torso.
    It's a direct hit.

One second later a crowd of 99ers opens fire and another second later my 1600hp shield is down to bare minimums.

I was at the same spot. Didn't move and inch during my 3 shots. Every shot was perfectly lined up but only one hit home! I can't trust my sniper rifle, besides the enemies automatic weapons hit home from a longer distance than i can ever hope to achieve with my sniper rifle.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

Yeeeeup. The hit box is a little off. Aim for the throat when going for a headshot. Dunno bout the other ones though.

Scope Mods are currently bugged. If you place a scope on your rifle that says +0.10 accuracy, it will actually cause it to become more inaccurate. Leading to a deviation from the center.

If that's not the case, then it can be attributed to latency and improper hit boxes. The rifles in this game are theoretically great, but fall short in application. Especially compared to higher DPS and easier to use weapons.

Very frustrating! In similar games I always like to thin out the enemy ranks a little before I man up and hunt down the stragglers!
    Hope they fix this!

Most snipers aren't that powerful until your skill with that weapon type is over like 3. The classes in this game don't really effect the weapon skills in any noticable way. I snipe almost esclusively so both types of sniper rifles are at 10 and head shots still don't ALWAYS do an OHK, especially on 99ers. Part of that is because the are only partly human so have a higher damage tolerance. It's best to use weapons with nano-effects. The life syphon (purple swirly icon) and radioactive both do well against 99ers. The fire does well on most humanoids except some of the tankier ones. And the electric is always nice. Still not quite sure what the blue nano-effect does though so can't say much about it.

Guns do a certain amount of damage based on the type of enemy you face. Nanos can make it more effective once you figure out what works best on each enemy.

This, if you're aiming for head shots, go for the neck area. If you're using a scope, see -> http://forums.defiance.com/showthrea...o-not-use-them.

I find sniper rifles next to useless. They have potential but they are far too difficult to use atm. Hopefully they will get fixed soon.

I can confirm scope Mods Lv 3 being bugged. I'm now getting 100% headshots with scopes off, and no longer having to aim for the mouth, Crazy!
