I heard by the time you try to make a wish to a star, it dies, and another one appears, or something of that matter, it was in a meme.

Well those shooting stars people make wishes too aren't actually stars. They are just meteors. But as for actual stars, the light coming from the star takes time to get to us (light years). Since we are so far we aren't seeing the current state of that star. For all you know that star you just made a wish to has been dead or turned into a black hole or whatever for millions of years.
Sort of like reaching a point where instinct is the natural destination of intelligence? That's interesting actually. Makes a whole lot of things about my cat make sense lol. No, I think I get where you're coming from. A definition of perception in the sense that, akin to how each of us are individually, different variables will yield different perceptions on, in this case, intelligence.
Very true. I suppose what I was referring to when I said "perfect circumstances" is ...well...everything. Distance from the sun, abundant amount of carbon, abundant amount of water, abundant amount of oxygen, and all that other stuff I learned about life and it's great chain back in school. Again, I just lack the scientific vocabulary to put what I'm trying to say into words (which probably infuriates Scientific purists...sorry). But then again, if an organism is ever evolving so that it's survival is insured, I suppose there can be no limit on the physical form an "intelligent being" can take. I guess that makes evolution itself somewhat of an intelligent design. Though now we get back to the conversation of what defines intelligence outside of our species.
Don't feel bad. I like to consider myself an intelligent idiot. Meaning I know just enough to know that sometimes I need to keep my mouth shut. The only knowledge I take solace in being 100% sure about is the knowledge that I indeed know nothing.
I might not make a lot of sense all the time; but, I do like conversations like these. Something nice and meaty for the old brain upstairs to chew on.
I feel the exact same way. I couldn't have said it better myself. I also think that talking about these grand scientific workings is awesome, but I tend to sidetrack into philosophical ideas and a multitude of theoretical possibilities when I talk about them which leaves me feeling....meh :P I am strengthening my knowledge of the more concrete side of sciences so I can feel better about myself T-T
