    This game is strangely addictive

There have been moments after really getting into it the past few nights when I honestly could not believe I paid 60 bucks for this game. Be it because of the glitches or the low budget vibe of it all. But despite the warts... I keep on playing and find myself not wanting to log out.

I suppose it is because underneath the surface there is actually a great formula here and sometimes that is what takes hold and has that weird effect where you know it's flawed as hell, but you still want to keep playing. It's an oddball for sure, but it can be a fun one.

I used to mod for Unreal games and the guys at Epic were occasionally chatty, especially with the Make Something Unreal participants. They said that at really what games need before anything else is fun. Bugs, UI, lots of details make for great games - but all the polish doesn't mean anything if the core isn't fun.

At its core - this game is fun. Bugs, yes. Mechanics that need work, yes. But fun.

I also don't know of a game that's managed unstructured coop nearly as well as this one (but I haven't played Rift...)

Its the first time in a long while I've played a game enough to even play it in my sleep.

It is kinda interesting to me how most people say this game is "so terrible" compared to say, Skyrim - and yet many people have already clocked twice as much time here as the average Bethesda title.

This is my first fps game, I'm normally and rpg player, but I'm surprised at how much I play this game. I actually enjoy it. I was so dead from WoW that I think this is just the refresher I needed. Even without the social interaction that I'm used to getting I still play this over any of the other games I have. I'm terrible at it too lol, but meh, its fun

How do you know you played that much hours? Is there some stats page where you can see that?

Yeah, dunno. You can put "/played" into chat and it will report back in days. So I've clocked up to 72 hours, personally.

Which would normally be on my "hella lot" list, but is low for Defiance it seems. Like, really low.

It's addictive because it's different and stands out from the rest of the TPS. I think it can similarly relate to Starhawk but better.
