If you paid $60 for a chair but couldn't sit in it half the time you would probably return it and get a refund. Sadly we don't have that option once we open the package.
They can all be moved to help eh? What does an artist know about their servers in general? They have separate teams for a reason and they all cater to different aspects of the game. Someone doing textures for palette swaps isn't going to have the same hands on access to the core game. I believe this is an issue of people not understanding that janitors can't do the tech stuff. They don't want more hands in the system where other errors can slip in.

A programmer is not a programmer. If the error is hardware related a programmer isn't doing squat to the system. If there is an error with the network side, someone who has no experience with IP protocols isn't going to be much of a help. A programmer that is great at Basic isn't doing squat with C++. I can program in assembly but I would be useless with their stuff.

The only similarity is that programmers code and should have a general idea of logic. What they do with it beyond that is very different.

When there are emergencies, you can bet they move everyone they can utilize to the tasks they need them working on. However, no, the secretary at the front desk isn't elbows deep in the RAM swap.

Anyone who complains has never played an MMO since launch date. Games like call of duty and halo aren't like that because the world isn't constantly alive. and even those games have server problems lol. Even Diablo3 was sooo messed up for the first couple months and that's not an MMO either. If anything all the server down times and updates show that Trion is aware and trying to make it better and more enjoyable for everybody. I understand for the people who buy boost and everything like that being angry but they have made up for that once already and are more than likely to do that again. I can say that I have not been kicked off the game in about a week and half now. Given i can only put in a few hours a day I'm still able to do that with no problems. Many people don't buy MMO's or online games till a few months after they release for this reason. Its been exactly 1 month. You bought it early so naturally your gonna deal with the launch issues... What did you expect from a game that has to be always connected to an online server? A game that has many server on 3 different platforms that have to be monitored? A game that is i wanna say the third ever MMO on xbox360? If anything the people at Trion are freaking monsters and beast for pulling this off as well as it has been and soon everything will be in order. We are all part of the this great "Defiance" experiment for the next couple month so get used to it
Wow.. well said and one of the best posts I've seen so far on any forum here. Everyone on xbox 360 is used to instant gratification and expects every game to run like a solo campaign. If it were that simple then there wouldn't have been a beta. And as TM1 said, "Anyone who complains has never played an MMO since launch date. Games like call of duty and halo aren't like that because the world isn't constantly alive. and even those games have server problems.."

For those who are complaining that they may loose money because of certain issues, I don't understand why you would spend this money at all knowing the game was having major issues. Just doesn't seem to be the smart thing to do. You really have no one to blame but yourselves. But even though your at fault I guarantee that Trion will compensate you for any issue in that department.

So.. if you can't play Defiance, chill, put it on a shelf and play something else for a month. There are plenty of other games you can play for now. Or you could be like me and play every chance you get, being disappointed when the server goes down or something doesn't register the way it is supposed to.. but I don't hate on things I have no control over and accept that it will, in time, be worked out.

Big Ups to TomMang1 and Big Ups to Trion

Xbox users are used to instant gratification? Considering the usual update process that devs have to cert. through MS, not really.

Be glad these updates are handled on their end with less restrictions than normal xbox games because those updates take a long time and are few and far between because of the cost associated with the MS cert.
