I just downloaded defiance 4 days ago, and watched the first three episodes Monday night. Truthfully, I got the game to get my mind off my recently deceased family dog - seemed like the defiance universe was big enough to lose some hours in. Out of those 4 days I've got about 10 hours of game time in comparison to 4-5 hours of waiting. There is a point where, no matter how much I like the show or the game, I start to think about getting my money back. I've been kicked 3 times, twice during arkfalls. It's just... disheartening.
Not to mention, while the gameplay is solid, the menu screens are OK at best.
Modifications could be streamlined:
- by having some type of marker next the name of an item when you're scrolling through the inventory that tells you IF said item could be broken down to resources or IF it could have mod slots added instead of checking each item one at a time (its a tedious timesuck).
- once you select an item in the salvage matrix, if you press 'Back' command (mapped to B on my gamepad), it takes you out of the whole menu screen system and back to the game. You must press the 'Inventory' command or re-select the Item to go back to the inventory. However, if you select one of the options in the salvage matrix (add attachment, breakdown resources, add mod slots) you would use the 'Back' command to back out of that selection. From there, it naturally follows that another press would take you back another, single step in the process - or to the inventory. Not out of the salvage matrix and game menu altogether. There's no need for a separate command that takes you back to the inventory there guys, I'm going through that menu rapidly, and switching buttons is awkward. Just make the 'Back' command take you back to the inventory and another press of 'Back' take you out of the game menu. Gamer's can double, triple tap with the best of them.
Aside from wonky menu's, it just feels... raw. I like the game, but it feels rushed in more than a few ways. Then, on top of that, these server issues. I'm patient, but if I have to wait for you to fix the servers 5 out of the first 7 days I own the game, can you blame me for wanting a refund? I hope it doesn't get to that point - I'm surprised that 3 out of 4 days there have been issues (beyond the scheduled maintenance).
So far, I haven't got what I paid 70$ for (the game and 800 bits) - glad I held off on the season pass. The balls in Trions court... if they get these issues ironed out soon I'd be glad to be along for the DLC ride. Still, t's very possible I'll be demanding my $60 back if there are issues like these over the weekend...
