I don't think even the most ardent supporter could even try to argue this game wasn't rushed to make it in time for the TV series. The game's indefensible as anything more than a guilty pleasure.

Well, their hands were tied. This is why usually games don't have a fixed date until they're really ready to go live.
I blame syfy! : P
^This. That hard deadline for a cross platform game. One that was already planning on frequent patches for the stuff linked to the show. So far they are actually doing better than I expected. I doubt they are happy with it though. And yes, while it obviously has problems I think the game is fun. And for me that's all that matters.
why do people keep offering them this excuse. They claim they've spent years (I wanna say 5?) developing this as a game/show combo. They said it was planned and developed as a combo from day one. They had more than a full development cycle. Trion hasn't even had the decency to offer excuses, why bother trying to do it for them?
Yes.
Results matter.
Excuses don't.
I used to tell that to people who worked under me. I'll listen to your explanation, but not your excuse. Might seem harsh.....but the real world IS harsh.
No matter what, a person or group is ALWAYS responsible for their actions or inactions.
Definitely rushed. Probably why all the DLC is coming out before season 2. Half of it is probably content that couldn't be finished before release.
It was absolutely rushed to meet the TV Show deadline.
it probably needed another 3 or 4 months in development.
Yeah, NBCUniversal first brokered the whole Defiance deal in 2008, when they purchased a stake in Trion Worlds.

Oh, I'm just so pleased that Comcast (who owns NBCUniversal in its entirety as of March 2013, who in turn owns Syfy) owns a stake in Trion Worlds.![]()
5 years from pre production to finished product on an multi platform MMO type game is already a rush job. Considering sometimes you have to wait on the TV side to finalize things so storylines match up and etc. make it incredibly short. Maybe if it was just a TPS with no MMO component it would have been ready. Or an exclusive to 1 platform.
