What if Trion managed to fix the problems present with Defiance in your eyes? They've got the budget and experience to do so. I've no issue with the game at all, just putting that out there.

Bugs are within the realm of "fix." Basic design potholes/craters their veterans missed with the game in the box seem increasingly unlikely to hope for a "fix."
I would absolutely love for them to prove me wrong. But it's going to take a hell of lot to fill those design holes. It's comparable to an author selling me the first novel of a series and ending the first book literally a quarter of the way in with LOLIOU in the middle of a chapter of blank pages.
Thus, the game is an embarassment as a launch title for Trion after Rift. No matter what they manage to do with it after launch.
I agree it`s way to soon for final judgement, but surprisingly the game feels very healthy to me, despite all the negativity here.
Somehow people seem to care about the game, even those who just hate on it. The forum is really busy, especially for a game released a month ago. E.g. the Neverwinter forum looks like a desert in comparison.
Also there still seem to be a lot of people playing Defiance, I played in the early morning hours yesterday and there were a lot of others, arkfalls were the usual mass-gathering.
In the long run my hopes go to the second season of the TV show. No doubt the game release didn`t work so well, at least in america, as a european player I didn`t have any of the launch issues.
Anyway, come season2 it may be a great chance for Trion to "re-launch" the game, or at least re-advertise. By then most bugs should be fixed, more content added, some player feedback implemented.
Well the good thing is player themselves will show no accountability. Defiance will be what its going to be, regardless of defence or reluctance. Heres a few things to note..when your purposely limiting your game time in an effort to not get the point were the "Trolls are complaining" the game isnt right!
The signs are there, we all read the articls posted yesterday about Flagship, we all know whats going on with Aliens, this is going the same route, and you can love this game till the cows some home, it doesnt change the fact that they are reaping what they have sow!
When you start digging within the technical portion of the game, your way is lost. I dont need to be reminded how hard it is for Dev's to create this paltry of a game, i dont need to be reminded they released the game early to match the show release. When a player starts enabling the creative minds behind Defiance, now your changing the standards behind why we buy games.
Careful, you might loose this fight, Anne Frankly why does everybody have to bring up the Nazis?

That's the thing-- they have the right philosophy, but they implemented it so poorly players can't see it. So they ask for other genres to get copy/pasted over.

I guess that's the beauty of an MMO. They constantly evolve and grow! You're perfectly entitled to your opinion, as is anyone else on this forum. Let's just hope it hasn't left a stigma once they do manage to please everyone![]()

all valid points. just as a general question, no ill will intended, do you see season 2 as too far off as a potential revive? i speak only in regards to the next gen of consoles coming out and the amount of effort being put into an overhaul on a game for systems which may soon be dated. very interested in your opinion![]()
Considering the global good will and the panned critical reception (both of which are much lower than the previous release), I don't see any other possibility than Defiance's launch being considered an embarrassment for Trion after Rift.
They can do so many things with this game after launch. But launch is over, and this Trion's launch is an embarrassment after the real Trion showed the industry how to do things right.
This game is definitely a... unique... experience.
It's like waiting too long to finish your fast-food soda and the sides of the paper cup start dissolving into your beverage like a cruel tongue surgeon experimenting on your taste buds. How long do we wait? Do we just accept the unique taste of paper cola? This games development is just plain crazy.
