Honestly , you would think Trion learned from Rift and would have temp servers to play on untill hype dies down and servers level out... I dont work in mmo industry and I know this. Instead we sit in que, You would think they could keep track of beta invites that got sent out and adjust for it.

i have played mmo/online games for 16 years.. this is the worst first impression of any game I have ever played...

sounds like you have not been in too many Closed betas, especially AAA ones, this happens all the time, think about the lag if we all logged in at once O.o they are letting people in in batches i bet so as to not blow the servers up and to free up the starter areas, just relax sheesh
Clearly you've not played many of the popular MMO's in their beta's.
Really glad I didn't pre-order. Looks like this launch will be vary similar to Rift's launch with insane queue times.
Hey I was just in the queue at 1096 for a bit and then it went to 1097....
To the person who just cut in front of me I don't know who you are or where you live But I Will find you and when I do I am going to throw so many furbies at you you will cough up the biggest Hairball EVER... and then... well I am going to get the hairball of course good hair should Never be wasted and then I am going to make some warm fuzzy socks.... and maybe a scarf can't go wrong with a good scarf... and then.. well just be ready You Have Been Warned... so keep an eye over your shoulder that fuzzy thing following you Might Not be me but maybe the one to the left is or maybe that one up there by the flower OHH! hey a flower not seen one them in Ages Must get a closer look... Huh? what do you mean what have I been smoking? why flowers of course ain't that obvious?
