No one on this thread is credible!! For no one has mentioned all that is:
or:
Oddly, many don't know who they should point the finger at.... I'll give you a hint... It starts with a B!
Speaking solely computers and MMOs: We went from MUDs to EQ/UO to ... dun dun dun... WoW.. The breaking point...
The hardcore community got shaken up and divided. While already casual (WoW), in Vanilla it did have more "difficulty".. They slowly turned gamers.. even some of the most hardcore.. into teet babies.. Its a plague that will not go away.
Something that use to be just for "Nerds or Geeks" became popularized.. You were no longer the nerd for playing WoW (Though even that was a slow change). It became the thing to do as it infected millions of homes. They made/still are making a fortune..
Publishers (The real controllers of games) saw this.. Do I really need to explain all this? Did no one else really notice what's been going on the last 15 years in the gaming world?
Society in general is much more spoiled, corrupted and expect instant gratification at every turn. Unfortunately it is just not in our youth but everywhere.. Can Blizzard take the sole blame for this? Of course not.. Society as a whole as been degenerating for years.. They are just a big contributor, especially for the expectations people now hold for games. (Both Publishers and Players).
Hollywood is another contributor to some of these expectations.. If it doesn't have a billion dollar budget .. it's no good. They are also behind and have been for years; Releasing trash games based on Movies to turn over a quick profit and suckers have fell for it for years driving the industry into the hands of the money hungry instead of innovation.. Just like everything else.. Same reason we are still using a combustible engine.. Money.
Ironically enough I also blame innovation for society's current state. Everyone is trying to make money (of course) but at what expense, your health?.. Convenience has become to common and people are way to comfortable.
In general we have become a much more demanding, lazy, comfortable society and hold little regard for our fellow man.
Many of the types of people I mention will not make it in life once reality actually hits.. If they do it will be from the support of their government or sucking their hard working friends and family dry.
"Next-Gen" is not just a problem with games, it's a problem for the world and personally I'm feeling pretty **** for having kids at all..
Granted we are in a somewhat "peaceful" state in most parts of the world (aka no Vietnam going on, WWII etc.. ), I still feel bad, like many parents did during times like those for having kids...
Perhaps I'm just getting older and older, just waking up to the real world.. Perhaps the ones even older than me have been seeing this decline in society since before even my time.
I will say the General public sucks though.. No matter the age.. some younger people hold the mentality of an "Old-School gamer' while some older people hold the mentality of 'Next-Gen Gamers'.
I also blame tons of parents for how they have raised their kids to be spoiled little teet babies giving them everything at every turn... If its to hard you just do it for them.. "Oh.. it's OK baby.. Momma is right here"...
My child is 7 and plays adult games.. If he can't get past a point.. he doesn't play it.. He needs to figure it out for himself.
Games use to teach all sorts of things; Like: Critical thinking, problem solving, PATIENCE. Shooters actually use to make players more aware and more accurate when it came to actual Military test according to military studies.
Games now teach laziness and instant gratification... Just like everything else.
Family T.V. shows use to teach morals and show what real families might have to go through.. Pretty sure you know what they teach now..
****.. Look at all the problems kids are having in schools now versus prior.
It's way deeper than just games.. Though they have played a big impact IMO... Especially WoW.
