Its a rendering in the game. After the arkfall they will change back
Still happens to me most everyplace else. Only occasionally do I get to see what outfit/look they really have. I'm disappointed in that, but I suppose these things have to be sacrificed to make sure the game runs....*sigh*

A base outfit with no 'customizational' options is apparently too much memory for the game to comprehend when dealing with more than 5 people at at any given time.
Other peoples outfits render just fine when we're out of combat, and in a group. Anything beyond that, worthless xD

it would take a lot of lingo to convince me you can't render peoples outfits in a crowd, or why you Really need to default everybody's appearance because its the holy grail/missing link of complete systemic relief, and that by displaying a puffy jacket machinist the texture difference is so optimal ..Not doing it would have been the Ultimate DOOM and every single game on the market would sell better if they followed suit because its clearly overtly beneficial. lol im over it i guess
This Irks me too. I understand the Ark Fall situation especially when it gets loaded right up and there is 50-100 people around.
At Iron Demon Ranch hanging out or running into people outside of arkfalls they need to get this fixed. Our outfits are our "Residual Self Image" and "Personality" in the game. To me it's a big Social, MMO type element we need to have back.
That and the friggin NAMES
Other titles such as DCUO seem to be able to handle this kinda thing I can't see why DEFIANCE can't.
This situation doesn't make you want to pay for an outfit that most people never see.
Sounds like a server overload rendering issue. I have seen it at the larger arkfalls myself.
