I am king Jek of Shtako Mountain!
Can anyone confirm this? I don't play the game much anymore to check. If they did this, not only are they screwing up the game, they straight out lied about not ninja patching things (not that I've ever believed a company when they said they don't ninja patch)

I think the biggest reason for the change would be the difference between the show and the game. The show has no real swearing of any kind that's in english so it comes across kind of strange to play the game where everybody is throwing out four letter words. It kind of breaks the connection the show and game have with each other for those of us involved in both. I personally don't care either way, but I do have to ask myself why they didn't realize this prior to releasing the game if they really did just pull all the swear words out...
If that was the case though, why not just announce it? Why ninja patch it? If Trion had put into their patch notes "removed several 'four-letter words' from conversations with NPCs for continuity" I doubt people would be irritated about it.
But when you do something so blatantly obvious, and then try to ignore the elephant in the room, people are going to be legitimately irked.

Yeah well the hypocricy is just more blantant this way. Lets invent make-belief swearwords to dodge rating and... oh, yeah. Words mean what we mean them to mean... to mean mean mean? Anyway point is that go back long enough f**k, s**t et cetera weren't used in the meaning they are now, thus they wouldn't qualify as curse-words to begin with.
Therefore shouldn't we be cencoring sthakos hakos makos and all that jazz as well? And Im pretty sure cooper just told my boss that he's 2nd to that f**king of a certain animal, which I've no idea what that is.
Trion should advertise the fact that they are the first MMO in history to have removed more from the game post launch than they added! Firsts are important.
I wonder what Coopers new lines are:
Cooper: Shut the front door you mother father.
Ark Hunter: *shuts the front door*
Cooper: Helping you falls somewhere on my list behind dancing a salsa.
Von Bach: You'd have to buy me dinner first.
Cooper: High five Von Bach
*changes into a dress and takes a stroll down Ocean beach*

This better be a bad joke -.-
Honestly it's just a confusing move. Even network television has started allowing the word "sh**". FX (see here: Justified), TNT (see here: The Closer)... even SyFy used it once a few years ago, during Battlestar Galactica. Anyone remember?
Adama and Bulldog were seated in his quarters, and Bulldog made a crack about his escape from Cylon capture. Adama grinned and replied, "You had me worried- for a minute I thought the Cylons knocked all the bullsh** out of you."
I'm just trying to understand the purpose behind them doing this. I can't find a good reason, especially when you factor in the "M" rating for the game. You can't buy it without a parent unless you're 17... at 17, you can hear worse language walking down the hall of your high school.
