Why do guys play as female characters in the game

I have come across some people doing this and I don't understand why what are your thoughts on this people?

Why do packages of boxer briefs show a hot guy with a six pack on the package? To appeal to women buying them for their husbands/boyfriends. Men don't buy their own underwear, unless they've planning to get into a new relationship, or going on a big date :P

I always feel people ask theses questions for different reasons than stated. Like they are really saying I want to know if you really are a girl, so stop posing as one.

I'm probably raising this thread from the dead. But I guess taking from my point of view - I've been raised in a female orientated family for a good part of my life (the only father figure being my grandpa who died when I was young). So in some games, I prefer a strong female character or the female version. In games like Mass Effect, I've always preferred Jennifer Hale's voice acting over Mark Meer - I think Jennifer Hale gives Commander Shepard a stronger presence, more emotion.

Also, fashion options and accessories tend to less varied with males than females. Customization is probably one of the most enjoyable things of any game - I feel that I can do that more with a female character.

At the end of the day though, I'm always open and honest about it (being an RL male) - whether it's Defiance, Second Life or Star Trek: Online.

To the males, that say I don't want to look at a guy's ***, are you afraid that you might like it? Are you that homophobic?

I don't view my male toon sexually nor my female toon. In fact, I don't even pay attention when to those areas when I play.

I play a female character because I like to fantasize what it would be like to not have to work or pay for drinks.

It's simply the opposite of being gay. I'm a bacon man myself, I prefer the ladies. The simple answer is, most guys play male characters because they want the fantasy of being "immersed" in a video game.

The rest of us, that aren't quite so deluded, will play female characters because they're more attractive. It's not rocket science.

All of the sausage lovers and trendy gay people can do what they want. I could care less. It IS a game.

Finally, the females in this game are ****ing hideous, clothes are abysmal, it doesn't make a difference what sex you play. You can't really tell them apart. I'm sure the "gaymers" think everyone is beautiful though, that's what ugly people do

You can certainly tell in Firefall, chicks are smokin hot.
