I have to agree with VolDeVie: the marketing has been insane, and damn near on a Blizzard expansion launch gate level. I've also seen commercials for the game during all three episodes of the Defiance show so far. If you aren't, I'm wondering if it is a regional thing. I live on the east coast, United States.

With the sales numbers versus investment being so bad, the fact that Syfy has not even ordered a second season yet as of articles last week, and just general marketing cycles, I'm honestly not expecting to see much more in the way of television advertising for the game outside of during the show, at this stage.

I have about as much use for apologist threads like this one as I do for the "I quit, you can have my stuff" threads.

The fact is, the game is still seriously broken in areas that really matter. It's really happening, and when somebody points it out or vents a little frustration, they're not being a hater: they're being bloody honest.

Meanwhile, much more complex MMOs like Neverwinter launch with a huge open BETA with no problems other than a very rare lag spike. And it's certainly not the first MMO to have a smooth opening day.

I don't care if Trion fixes their problems or not at this point, that's the luxury of competition. But I can tell you a marked turn around and some DLC in the near future would do wonders to keep my interest. I just don't see it happening.

Afaik Neverwinter hasn't had a smooth beta, but it is beta so nobody can blaime them. I've heard people say the servers have been unstable. But whatever, they're allowed to be unstable.

That's indeed the beauty of competition. Which in my OP I did say people are entitled to leave if they don't like the game. Just blaming it on bugs this early in release is a little more than silly.

I don't know. I'm from the UK. The first I heard of Defiance was a short video released by a youtuber I used to be subscribed to called Athene. He covered it at E3 or gamescon I believe. I paid little attention. After that, literally nothing until I approached a video game retail store looking for something new to play. At the back of the store, on a shelf with other games, was the deluxe edition of Defiance. I picked it up and read the back and decided to give it a go, so bought it.

The store I went to was your Gamestop equivalent, and the way Defiance was displayed there gave the impression it was just another unheard of title stacked up on the shelf. I'd have expected more exposure given the organisations backing it. Maybe I just linger in places they don't advertise.

I'm playing it and I haven't had a single problem other than occasional lag pinball effect. I had one DC, and the only other outage was a patch. The servers are as stable as any open beta is ever going to allow.

To be honest i haven't found it that buggy at all, the only thing that pisses me off is when you open the map some time is freezes and you need to restart your xbox, but apart from that i think it's doing rather well.

They've done wonders in the past month, but people are still bogged down by things like VOT mass cannon not gaining xp. I've suffered from an extremely small amount of bugs that actually affect my game-play. Point being, the last week and a half has been smooth gaming. People got to get over themselves and open their eyes.

Looking for like-minded individuals to play with! If you're a musician, audio-engineer, or just LOVE music add me ^_^! If you're none of the above, well, I still need some people to game with.

Missing items, resetting pursuits, broken co-op maps, performance slowdown anywhere more than 3 people are gathered, particularly single-digit FPS at arkfalls...(even instances run like crap). I suppose those are all features?

And we should get over ourselves. Right.

I Remember Conquer Online my first MMO kicking off rather perfectly with no birthing process needed and with the content that it had on launch kept me playing for 3 years in which time new content had come out and kept on coming out, it's been 8 years and i've still not obtained max level but that wont stop me trying, and thats how an MMO should be, its been a month on Defiance and to be honest i am getting quiet bored with the bugs that have been here since day one and being prevented from completing contracts, do to the content not being there or the game it's self just being unplayable (e.g. Playing explosions 101 getting half way through and the game throwing the completed screen up and throwing you out the game repeatedly throughout the day or it just bugging out, been trying to get the weekly contract and its been 5 days now and still haven't managed a full 101 Explosions Instance), so for me atm it's getting and achievements and then changing game unless some worth while fixes and content come out. Also the extreme lack in weapon progression is what annoys me the most as I believe the PVP part of an MMO should rely on this to make me won't to play more and grind to get a weapon and higher levels but due to this not being there its lead me to the conclusion that RuneScape has better weapon progression than Defiance, and runescape sucks :P [and this conclusion makes me sad inside] lol (most likely tones of errors and spelling mistakes but im off to work, try not to flame/troll me to much as this is only my opinion for now, may change if they get their priorities in order and fix the game breaking bugs before the ones no one cares about)

I haven't had any of those problems to be honest. My experience has been relatively bug free. Truth is the only thing I've come across are daily contracts resetting. Considering I benefit from that by gaining additional rep each time I complete them, I'm not that upset, in fact I'm down right pleased
