I like to stand behind them and do the dance emote while shouting "C'mon, catch a ride!".

I play a female character 90% of the time, since I remember back in the day when I didn't have that option. Although I did make a male toon for Defiance. For me, I like creating back stories and little character/personality profiles that incorporate the history of the game. I also tend to do a lot of role reversal with the two genders when I'm making their story. Funny enough, forcing them into stereotypical roles typically reserved for the opposite gender opens up all sorts of new ideas for me. It's more an exercise in character development than anything.

And really ... I feel kind of bad for the guys who play female toons and are constantly questioned or harassed by their choice. (Legitimate players and not just scammers, of course.)

But to go back to your question, I do it because it's boring to look at boobs and tight leather all the time. And if I want to be make believe, why not be something that I'm not in RL? ;D
It's funny how people whine etc. over guys playing female and it's just fine that girls play male characters in games...

Funny how so many talks about "Gender equality" and yet we see this all the time, i have also known a few women playing as males IG.

wouldn't it get awkward some times when girls playing as boys met each other and are like "OMG your guys so HOT" "no way your guy is hotter"

I'm obviously a man not woman, but I dislike the way female toons are quite often perverted. Tight butts, big boobs, skin tight clothing, showing a lot of skin, or showing bras and undies too much... No imagination, nothing left a mystery, yet male toons pack heavy armor, loose clothing, cover up more, and generally have a bit more thought into how they look. I wouldn't blame any woman rolling as a male toon, avoid virtual STDs from random t-bagging!

As a hermaphrodite I find this thread hard to relate to.

The closest I can usually get to playing my gender in an MMO is to make an elf.

He meant stupid, but obviously didn't check spelling. Hmm, I must get a new keyboard, some keys don't register certain letters occasionally.

Honestly I don't encounter that alot with my char (Heather Three - Xbox)

My female toon wears full body armor that even covers her face but I also like her to look sexy if I so choose. (the 'corperation' spy looking uniform hows off her bra well and renegade shows off her mid drift and legs) I wish they had dresses I kight get some for her but really. Women are often seen as beautiful by both sexes compared to men being seen as handsome by both thus the focus is on women and their sexuality.

I mean in todays times where women are just flaunting the heck out of their bodies and thus their sexuality I sometimes think muslims traditional garb for women might be better for women and men. However since that would likely never happen I might as well enjoy the view asthetically.
