Cankers (infector) are better to use because they don't produce any bugs. Instead they deal constant, increasing crit damage even after the crit spot is gone. On top of that each clip of infection stacks on the other, so you can be doing 800+ per tick of crit damage, then add another 300+ or so onto that for massive damage.
Went into a Destroy the Crystal at 1/2 health earlier this morning and came out 2nd with almost 1mill damage dealt.
Cankers are great for larger targets. For smaller targets I use a Heavy Innoculator. Every shot produces a bug and when the enemy dies it produces an extra bug (4) for a total of up to 8 bugs from one enemy. Each shot actually does damage too so its not like you're screwed if your bugs decide to go after a target other than the one that they spawn from. 4 shots will take out the most basic raider just fine. Go after the smaller enemies first. Usually you can kill them and still have 6 to all of your bugs left, which will destroy the next enemy's health if not outright kill it. Most bugs I've ever seen at one time was 23. That was funny as hell to watch. Poor, poor raiders. xD
Y'all whine too much.
