    OMG don't beta me bro!

Because BETA means testing like it did 15 years ago, am I right?

Some people are deluded, beta is a sales gimmick now. Buy now for earlier access and beta perks!

Buy beta points and get a beta shirt. Beta, the reason we can say "hey not our fault it broke, we are in beta."

Game not holding up to expectations? BETA! Broke and unfinished? BETA!

This word does not mean what is used to, I think it's in beta. Alpha access and 5000 beta points to spend on unlocks and power ups!

I think it'd be called "server downtime" otherwise.

Spend beta points to restart the server.

Betas are still betas, and this to me seems less like a "beta" and more like a stress test...
Either way it IS a little worrisome so close to release of the actual game... I just hope that what we are seeing today during the stress test will not repeat itself on actual release.

They'll need to do at least one "clean" beta before launch, one that goes relatively flawlessly to prove that they can pull it off, but leading up to that I fully expect to have catastrophic betas as they push their systems to the limits, so that they'll know exactly where those limits are. You WANT them to do this, because it allows them to make the game as good as it can be for launch.

except you can buy beta access through pre-orders. Game launches in one week, this is a sales gimmick.
