How do you feel about the global account handle/identifier?

The first choice you make when you enter the game is a global account name/handle. All your characters in the game will have that handle displayed with their name in the game.

I'm curious how players feel about that? I know some people prefer the option of being able to escape to one character for moments of peace and privacy, time away from the demands of a guild/clan/friends, to escape stalkers/griefers, etc.

The flip side is that it prevents people from being a jerk with one character and then dodging to an alt to gain anonymity. It also helps friends stay in touch (if you want all your friends tracking you that easily).

I'm kind of on the fence about this. What are your thoughts?

not a huge fan of it, but the griefers/jerks cant hide either. it will force people to be a bit more polite or risk being branded forevermore in a game as a prick. besides, you can have fun with your handle, make it reflect your toon names

no anonymous jerks hiding behind alts, getting around ignore and block features.

I grew up playing Diablo 2 where you have your account name and then your characters within the account.

So long as I get to name my character somehow I don't see anything wrong.

i prefer global handles, i want to know if they new jerk im running into isnt just the old jerk on an alt.

City of Heroes/Villains did that. I have no problem with it, and see it as a plus.

It was handy being able to chat to my friends no matter which character I was on with.

You could also choose to add to local character friends list or global handle. My regular friends I added globally so they could see me online and jump in with an alt.

That way, I could still 'escape' from acquaintances. And guild/clan/supergroup adds were at character level, not account.

Really depends how it's implemented. I've yet to play. Still waiting for servers to return for my first beta event.

Is that what it was at first when I started the game? Dam anyway we can change the global account handle? Or will it ask us again when the game officially opens?
