help with synergy please

hey guys and gals I have acquired a few guns which I am happy to stick with now however before I slap mods on them I was hoping someone could answer this question:

can you change the synergy by puttin a different set on a gun
for instance:

I have a gun with run n gun synergy but would prefer assassin if I put 4 assassin synergy mods on it would it take effect.

reason I'm askin is I heard it in passing and it made md curious

Nope dont work that way sry buddy, u will get the perks the mods give but not the bonus listed on'the gun
