You know what's going to happen with this 'challenge' stuff? The vast majority of people at an arkfall will be somewhere outside the circle, waiting for the last moment to jump into the fray and collect the loot while doing as little of the real work as possible.

At least now, there's stuff to be done with little real effort. I do a form of crowd control. Until the very end, I only attack the flying Hellion boss when there's nothing else to shoot at, while concentrating on all the other hellbugs so they are less of a problem later when it's actually possible to kill the Hellion. It's way too tightly programmed: beat on the main body until the Hellion comes out, lower its health by 1/4, fight a big bug, another 1/4, two more big bugs, last half and done.

A real challenge would involve more than just a few extra enemies, and if a large majority of the players stop coming to an arkfall if their pain exceeds the value of the reward, then the programming will have to cut back the challenge or only a few supreme game phenoms will be willing to do them. You get crowds now since everybody gets stuff and some get extra stuff like XP and keycodes that aren't amazing things like orange weapons would be. Add at least one random bug per Major Arkfall final fight that, if you get the kill shot, you get an orange item. Not too easy to kill, not too tough. Maybe one that you have to melee to death, to eliminate the massive amount of firepower that just about anybody who plays much can wield. Stuff like that would maybe make for a challenge and not a pain...

    its all about the reward...

If considering increasing arkfall difficulty, then consider increasing the loot rewards substantially.

Further, several major arkfalls I have attended recently completely lack ammo crates. I thought they had addressed this?

This is all fine and dandy in theory, but this game already lags hard when everyone gangs up on an Arkfall. I think the xbox 360 is already struggling to render what it has. If they can limit the number of people to say... 25 players at an Arkfall at once, then perhaps they can add more AI to make it more difficult.

I definitely think the higher end of the Arkfall spectrum needs tweaking. Seems fine when there is only a small group there, but once there's a blob of purple it becomes more of a hunting competition between players, and the challenge shifts from not dying to outkilling your fellow players.

This isn't to say challenge = time spent. The mobs shouldn't simply become bullet spongy, I think it should actually instead be an overall increase in mob attack power. The hellbugs and scrappers should feel like a real threat, not like shooting fish in a barrel.

Outkilling, why? Other than pursuit-related kill counts, it doesn't seem to matter what you do as long as you are there. OK, there are extra keycodes and extra XP that are still a mystery, but I've finished at the top of a Major twice and got nothing extra for it.

I managed to boost over a hill and hit the fluttering Hellion with my runner as I arrived late to an arkfall, and that got me my XP and loot. Or it was a miracle coincidence that somebody else killed it just as I arrived and I got the stuff for nothing. That's how much your loot relates to your effort. That should change...

    I really wouldn't mind.

I would like to see more AoE damage. Whole swaths of players should die more often. AoE that's avoidable with jumping/rolling would be preferred. More AoE to promote friendly BMG use would also be great.
