Hard Lock Up Of PS3

People, do not pull the plug! You can reset the PS3 by holding the power button for 20+ seconds . It's a lot nicer way of shutting down the system after a hard freeze.

For those that are going to say it doesn't work for hard freezes, have you tried holding the power for longer? It does work.

As for the OP, I have gotten quite a few freezes and every one I know that plays defiance has gotten them as well. It IS the game, ignore those that say it's your system. Yes, hard freezes happen in games but the frequency that it happens in defiance is much greater then many of us have experienced with all of our other games combined. By far.

It has done it to me once and never again; mine is a little over a year old. My friend, using the newer ps3 model w/ the sliding disc drive has a hard freeze about once every 2 days. I recall it happening twice within an hour once, but it only did it those two times that night. No clue what causes it, but it is a something.

I have a clan of 32 and no1 has froze.....
I did notice people on Ghostrecon that had problems fixed it by setting up a static IP for the ps3 and used google public DNS numbers instead of the auto settings. Everyone in my clan has a nat 2 and we all use Manuel settings.

Never had to pull the plug but I had it freeze on me twice when I could just press the button on the controller.

Wanna talk bad, trying using the depth chart during preseason on Madden 13, it will freeze up. Does it on ps3 and my 360 and it's even the download on ps3, Lol. Tried many discs on the 360 and still done it.

Hard reset by holding down pwr button for 20 secs.... although sometimes takes a couple of tries for it to work. I try never to pull the plug at the back if i can help it.


Already setup with static IP although not tried using google dns servers, will try that and see if its any better.

Hard reset doesn't work for this freeze.

At least its not a destructive syntax-by error like blackops 2 zombies

Had it happen to me twice yesterday. Ony in this game mind you. Had no other freezes on any of my other games.

Did you run a network test on psn? if you have a nat 3 you did something wrong.

Freezing is normal but I've never had my ps3 hard lock before where I had to unplug it.

If holding the power works for you when trying to reset then you did NOT experience a "hard lock" and just a regular one. I've held my power down for roughly 3 min before and it did nothing. I've had regular freezes where you can hold the power, and the console halting "hard locks" that make it so that it doesn't respond to anything except unplugging.
