seems like area chat is distance based

me and a buddy did a small test the other night just after the patch came out, with both of us on area chat, the further away we were the softer the voices got, and closer=louder.

clan / group chat is the same volume always

which may be why you can barely hear some people, get closer to them and they'll get louder.

Yep it is distance based. Not sure what the distance is, but they get quiet when you get far enough away, you gotta be fairly close to hear at full volume on area chat.

I always have my keyboard plugged in, in fact my foot is on it right now as my toes glide across the keys. I just haven't found much use for it on the game yet.

Headset always turned to max. Problem is with group members and people i'm trying to trade with in my group. I am always left asking "what, huh, excuse me..." I don't like repeating myself as much as the rest of you, but it can all be avoided by turning your mic up a notch or two

agreed, i hate having to turn my mic up just to hear someone talking, the game is blaring in my ear then when i take my headset off im deaf cuz i had to blare it cuz people dont know how to turn their mic up...did a co op yesterday and i think i had to do that twice, my ears were killing me lol...just turn your mics up, easy peasy

If you're exclusively a console player it might seem foreign, but pressing enter to type is pretty much the standard for every game that uses a keyboard to chat. Nearly every MMO, fps, and other game with chat has this function because people typically use the keyboard to move.

I'm not exclusively a Console player, but the thing is the keyboard has next to nil with how I interact with the world on the ps3.

There needs to be some sort of toggle option so one can just type to talk, and there needs to be a lingering chat box. That way I can communicate on the fly, and see when peopel are talking, and possibly talkign to me.
It can be pretty dangerous as it is to completely stop to talk in this game.

I gave up on the mic, most of the time background noise from people is all I heard, and no offence but I don't want to listen to some guy yell at his dog for wizzing on the floor.

Worst background noise is when someone needs to change the batteries in their smoke alarm. FFS change the batteries.

I use my keyboard a lot. I dont do much talking on the mic. I cant seem to get the mic to work either. Its a turtle beach and maybe there is a setting Im missing. (if anyone can help on that that would be appreciated) That aside even with a working mic I prefer to do my own thing and solo a lot and play with a lot of randoms. Ive got two friends that own this game I believe. One is in my clan I started. (My first one ever called Original Gamers because that is what I am)

mine is too, but it works just fine, do you have it calibrated? if so, then do you have all the chats unmuted?

As far as I can see via settings and what not, all options that would integrate into my mic working properly are turned on. I will double check again when I get on and see whats up.
