I have insanely bad dyslexia and run everything though a spell checker and reread it afterwards prior to posting. I do not feel it is a Disability, it is more of an annoying quirk.

So blaming Dyslexia for a bad start is silly, just take the burn edit the original post and shrug.

Also Six Million Hours is not a good Sign.

    April 2nd to May 6th.

    So 34 days.

6,000,000 / 34 = 176,470.59 Hours played a day, the average video gamer player plays 1 hour a day on Average. So that means 176k players regally play Defiance. It's a normal number for a MMO, nothing special but nothing horribly bad.

460,000 copies sold between 3 platforms is sad. http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name...=0&results=200

Well actually if you want a proper look at average would be to so that on average theres a 10% of hardcore players who play 4+ hours a day and then there would be around 20% of players that play 2 hours a day and then the rest would be 1 hour a day. Now do the maths for that and see the numbers lol.

I play about an hour a day. Anyways I didn't get the game until 2 weeks after launch. Probably a lot of people didn't get it the first day of launch.

For the MMO Market that is about Normal, Most MMOs have between 100k-500k Subscriptions. Only the top tier MMOs have higher numbers. Games Like SWTOR, TSW, Rifts are able to keep close to 1 million Subscribers. Of course you can think about the Kings of the MMO genre but they are in a incredibly lucky position. Lineage, Aion and WOW which have multi-Million Subs are a special group. two of which are only popular in the Asian Market and the third hit at the right time .

Even Hard Core Players don't play every day. The 1 hour average is a number the Video game industry came up with.

The difference here is that it isnt a subscription game, gw2 is really the only other b2p i can think off and they sold 2million compies in like 2 weeks, so for only 460k sold is bad for the infrastructure they must have in place to support 3 different platforms.

True, but you forget most MMOs which have 1~200k are f2p meaning they don't even sell the game and survive on in-game purchases and ad revenue from sponsors like Dodge.

Also the numbers you have for units sold is way short from the numbers I read 2 days after launch which had over 1 million downloads for PC.

If they had sold 1 million units with the farce of the bad advertising of the 1million registered accounts trion would be ****ting all over themselves to tell us. That they resorted to using the old registered accounts instead of units sold it shows the numbers arnt flattering. Also those f2p games dont launch on 3 different platforms and have very little infastructure support and the level of quality in their games show they were made on a piss poor budget, defiance and the show were not made on a low budget and those sales numbers have to hurt.

and 6 million is ... bad. u can expect near half of it to be "AFK time".

Ding ding ding, we have a winner. It's like when microsoft or sony say "Consoles shipped" instead of sales. It's a deceptive tactic used to inflate their numbers over what they really are and people are obviously falling for it hook line and sinker.

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?
