Defiance hit over 6 million hours of play

Ding ding ding, we have a winner. It's like when microsoft or sony say "Consoles shipped" instead of sales. It's a deceptive tactic used to inflate their numbers over what they really are and people are obviously falling for it hook line and sinker.

I think in this particular instance, its sorta like the music industry, an artist can go platinum without fans actually buying the album! Depending on the artist, most music stores anticipate a sell out, and adjust the numbers accordingly, but yes, its a very deceptive trick.

If they had sold 1 million units with the farce of the bad advertising of the 1million registered accounts trion would be ****ting all over themselves to tell us. That they resorted to using the old registered accounts instead of units sold it shows the numbers arnt flattering. Also those f2p games dont launch on 3 different platforms and have very little infastructure support and the level of quality in their games show they were made on a piss poor budget, defiance and the show were not made on a low budget and those sales numbers have to hurt.

At the moment the numbers are deceptive, but many MMOs hide the numbers at launch, this is a normal tactic since they have to give the number to the share holders. It is always better for smaller companies to show average until investor reports go out. Its a way to generate revenue. Much like SyFy saying they didn't make any money off the TV show, even though it has the highest viewership since Farscape.

Blizzard stopped advertising sales of games and expansions years ago, and the only way we can get real numbers is the stock holder meetings. It Just means Trion is doing the same thing.

I have insanely bad dyslexia and run everything though a spell checker and reread it afterwards prior to posting. I do not feel it is a Disability, it is more of an annoying quirk.

So blaming Dyslexia for a bad start is silly, just take the burn edit the original post and shrug.

So 34 days.

6,000,000 / 34 = 176,470.59 Hours played a day, the average video gamer player plays 1 hour a day on Average. So that means 176k players regally play Defiance. It's a normal number for a MMO, nothing special but nothing horribly bad.

Thank you. I think it is because I hate making grammar mistakes when I have a decent idea about something. (Of course i still make stupid mistakes, but I just fix them when others find them.)

Except that the numbers are wrong.

The Average MMO player spends about 22 hours per week playing MMO's... or 3 hours aday. So it's not 176K, it's 176K/3 or under 60K.

Holy crapp 6, 000, 000, 000 hours of game play combined that is a lot of hours .I am pumped that Defiance is blowing up in the video game world , I'm loving every second of game play like I said what is more fun than 16-20 of your friends running and gunning blowing things up together.

This statistic is incorrect to date. I cant find the site that posted this, but i seen the article over 2 weeks ago that Defiance was sharing the statistics on. This statistic was released the week the show launched.

By now there were many more hours logged in. But that being said, even at the shows launch those numbers were really bad. The article said the same thing about how bad the numbers really looked.

I am someone that is openly upset with the game for many reasons posted in this forum in other threads, but this one is very out dated statistics.
