Xbox Patch Problem. Did I just pay $60 to download patches?

I bought Defiance for xbox360 May 5th. I loaded the game and reached the start menu. I chose my hard drive and it's been hell since.

First, I downloaded a patch that took 20 min. My xbox rebooted itself. Next, I downloaded a patch that took 2 hours. My xbox then rebooted. The patch is listed as Patch 1.013 and has the other patches listed below as if they are all part of one big patch. Again, I downloaded the patch (approx 2 hrs) and rebooted. This happened 6 times @ ~2 hrs each. I went into my cache and saw the following:
Defiance - Patch Data 7MB
Defiance - Patch Data 3.6 GB
Defiance - Patch Data 1.4 GB
Defiance SE Code 64KB.
I deleted them all.

I restarted the game, which restarted the process. Downloads complete 100% and my xbox reboots after every patch download. I have not been able to actually play the game yet at all. Will this loop ever end? How many patches should I download? I've been looking all over the internet for help with this and nothing seems to make sense. I didn't have the BETA version. I can't get around the Patch menus to simply play the game. My download doesn't stop or go down to 0.0 mb/s. It seems like it is done downloading and restarts itself. Is there a number of times I need to download before I have all the patches?

I've had download speeds as low as .11 and as high has .32 mbps
At the end, it shows "Time Remaining: 0 Seconds" and the bar looks 100% full. The xbox then restarts and when I load the game, I get sent back to downloading patches and it looks as if it replays the last 15 minutes over again with the same results.

Keep trying, you'll eventually be able to get in. Took me forever to get all the patches when I first got it a few weeks ago and they've added 2 patches since then. If you hadn't deleted the ones you already had you'd probably be in by the time you posted this.

Sorry to hear that Apoogee. I'm currently in the same boat. Stuck at the same Patch screen..haven't been able to play for 3 days now. WTF...

@ManWithNoFace Thanks, it just seemed like an overwhelming amount of time for it to be working properly.
@MechHED It's good to know that I'm not the only one. If you find out anything that helps, keep me posted.

After downloading patches and clearing caches, I found a forum where someone suggested this website:

The reps at Trion Worlds suggested a lot of the same things I was doing. They also suggested installing the game directly to my xbox and changing the date and time to 11/11/2005. I tried the installation twice, both times it restarted immediately after selecting "install to hard drive."

My xbox then would not let me lot into xbox live.

It would restart every time as soon as it said "Apogeeaway connected to xbox live" at the bottom.

From here I had to disconnect to the internet to be able to log in. From there, I cleared the cache, deleted all of the Defiance files. Then I spoke to an XBOX live rep that had me delete my profile only from my xbox. I believe it was system settings -> profiles -> delete gamer profile only. Don't delete your saved games & other items.

I was then able to log onto xbox live, reinstall the game, download and fix all of the patches.

My biggest suggestion to anyone who is looping: Check to see if it says "Patching" the files, not just downloading the patch... then it reads "Optimizing" at the end. That's how you will know it is working properly.
If your xbox is restarting after downloading, DELETE all of your defiance patches, files, installations, etc. Then try it all over again.

The second time installing and downloading patches took the following:
Game install - 20 min
Patches - It downloaded through a couple times, but it took less than 2 hours to download, patch, and optimize them all. All of this was at a download speed of .32 Mb/s.

If you need any help, let me know. I feel like I could fix anyone's problems at this point.
