I personally think they took the show in the wrong direction to begin with. All the ingredients are there for a late night adult/mature gore filled violent scifi series.
The way it came across to me from watching episode 1 & 2, Is its kind of like what Avatar would have been if James Cameron would have had a stroke just before he started writing it.
I get that its low budget, Some parts look awesome, But its mainly the talking that puts me off it. Its just mindless babble.
But saying that. I am a huge fan of the game.
The show is basically trying to satisfy too many audience demographic groups at once, and so the show itself is crap. I especially loved the last episode and how they hyped up the hellbugs, and they appear in the episode for a grand total of 3 minutes. The entire episode is about hellbugs, and they just decide that all the other dumb soap opera nonsense is worth more screentime. But, hey....the SyFy audience eats that stuff up with a spoon. This is TV now, post-Sopranos, post-Game of Thrones, post-whatever geek thing is the popular flavor of the week. Instead of making one show that's really solid, they want to show to appeal to everyone, which ends up watering it down into blah.
Oh yeah, there's nothing more annoying than character development. I just hate it when shows make me give a **** about what happens to the characters.

I enjoy the show.. Far more than I did the garbage i felt Avatar was...
I mostly agree. I'm not seeing much of a plot develop at all. The father/son bickering was even worse than the father upset about his daughter being in love stuff. Every time I see that guy I want to turn the show off. Where is the adventure and at least some sort of a major plot?
