Well I don't care too much what others think. I am enjoying the show and I have several friends that are enjoying it as well.

I mostly agree. I'm not seeing much of a plot develop at all. The father/son bickering was even worse than the father upset about his daughter being in love stuff. Every time I see that guy I want to turn the show off. Where is the adventure and at least some sort of a major plot?

The major plot is why some want Defiance removed... Which ties into the mines... And the guy you don't like..

I personally think they took the show in the wrong direction to begin with. All the ingredients are there for a late night adult/mature gore filled violent scifi series.

The way it came across to me from watching episode 1 & 2, Is its kind of like what Avatar would have been if James Cameron would have had a stroke just before he started writing it.

I get that its low budget, Some parts look awesome, But its mainly the talking that puts me off it. Its just mindless babble.

But saying that. I am a huge fan of the game.

I give it two at most unless it really picks up the ball. The story telling is not powerful enough and whats the point in having all these other races when we only see them in passing.

I remember reading most of these complaints for Battlestar Galactica back when it first came out. "I give it only a couple seasons, too much character development and not enough action, it'll be a flop."

But then, it wasn't.

Dunno. Lot for the show to set up, and I kinda feel like it's doing the same BSG stuff. I feel like it's gonna take a little longer to ramp up all the way, because it didn't have the miniseries first. So I'll wait, and judge as time goes by. I think it's a pretty awesome show, personally.

sci-fi shows generally are a bit poor in current standards of what people call a good show.. i personally like the series so far, it takes time to get your point across, you cant just start a show and third episode in throw a bunch of BS at the viewers expecting them to follow along while the producer makes the show go in 9 different directions. its only the 4TH episode, seriously
