Sledgehammer has stated previously that you do not want to link your console to the beta client.(Edit: Apparently you can link it now and save a step when the full game releases. I was not aware that it would be the same code for both the beta and full game). Also, EGO rewards and pre-order content are not available to you during the Beta. This should clear up some of these multiple threads asking the same questions

Wow that is terrible.. now if I lost my preorder and bonuses from EGO I am done with Defiance. Why include it in the demo if you weren't suppose to do anything with it?

My brain is constantly doing this. I know its a beta. If it did anything to my ego bonuses from the site or some how affected my preorder I will be highly upset. Should not have even put that up then.

Does that mean that we lost the pre-order bonus?
Well, the game told me to link to my console at the start up screen. Wish I would have known earlier.
