If you want to show off in Defiance, be good at the game and have some rare titles / outfits. PvE does not need more variance. Just because you want exclusive content does not mean it should exist.
Actually the main reason people play MMO's as opposed to SP games is because of the social aspect. Not sure that's a win for Trion in this case as Defiance's social system needs to be scrapped and replaced with something that helps rather then hinders.

And part of that social aspect is people getting together to do some ultra hard co op,for some uber loot...2 things defiance does not have.

I'd be content with non-single-player co-op for now. Ultra-hard co-op seems to be too much to ask.

Maybe, but even Blizzard has admitted that the number of people who ever experience their top end raid content is very small. Even if most people eventually wander into a random raid before they end the game.

There are lots of social things to do in an mmo. Raids are certainly one of them, but RP is another. As is just logging on and having fun with your friends doing whatever. Heck even crafting and selling your goods has some social aspects to them.

Defiance really has... um... I'm trying to think of anything that it does well in the social aspect. It's a real shame because Rift shipped with a functional social system Day 1 and then improved on it as the game went on.

I know raids are not for everyone, crafting/selling/trading/raiding are non-existent in this game. There isn't even a reason to be in a guild, seeing as there is not any kind of guild content. MMO means so much more than just a lot of people running around,i strain to use the term MMO when describing defiance to someone.

Are you serious? PvE is literally the one thing that needs to be way more varied. I honestly don't get why people are so against more content, it baffles me.

Haha, yep, I thought that was hilarious being pressured by the server to actually queue haha. Nah I'm good thanks, I'll just grind my way through the pursuits and contracts because it's the only thing in the game right now that has any remote feeling of progression.

No point in PvP as you get no real reward.
No point in Co-op as you get no real reward.
Not too much point in Arkfalls as you only really get nades and shields which most of us have already settled on our best ones.

There's just no real point to playing this game right now until they actually add something that makes us feel like we're part of the world. Auction house would be a great step, in game mail would be a great step, banking system would be a great step, but hey, it's not like Trion have made an MMO before or anything......

The problem is that players are all armchair developers, they hear about a game and in their head it starts to design itself to their expectations. No developer could ever come close to making everyone happy. Unfortunately the McDonalds mentality has set on people, they think have it your way works for everything in life.

People are not against new content, or even new types of content. What people don't want is the typical grind raid A for gear, to grind raid B for better gear, to grind raid C for better gear, to grind raid D for ZOMG I'm the nuts gear. It's not progression, the mobs are of the same difficulty as they previously were as they have been buffed to deal with the new levels of gear. It's just cosmetics.

What the game needs is raid style coop areas sure, bigger challenges. It's not the gear stats that matter it's the prestige of being able to say I was good enough to complete that. The gear needn't be uber powerful, just uber cool, something that shows a players accomplishment. New outfits, only available in the challenge, new weapon skins or types etc. Stats don't matter a toss, what people are actually asking for is the ability to display their achievement's.

To all I say wait and see what the new content brings, if it's more of the same easy game, then fine I hole heartedly agree we have a problem. But lets see what the future holds before deciding everything is f**ked up like a soup sandwich after 1 month.

Nah, I'm with you there. PvE is really, really, really strong in this game (imo) - but that just means there's a core that needs to be built on. Arkfalls are great, helping out random hunters is great. Great, but can go farther. But not expanding on the current experience is just a huge missed opportunity.

Umm... GW, FFXI, DCU Online... All amazingly fantastic games. Every game that has used that exact mechanic since WoW has failed... I guess you forgot to tell the developers of those and many other success MMORPGs? Maybe you should be a part of their dev team. They sure aren't thinking right. They are too busy making successful and enjoyable games.
