The truth is that people don't want more powerful gear, they just want something that shows that they have completed a particular challenge. If an instance is difficult and gives a specific outfit or weapon skin/type that shows they have completed it then they are happy.

The problem is not lack of gear, outfits or rewards, the problem currently is that it is far too easy for everyone to get those rewards without any real effort. This in turn means that there is no way in the game to showcase your skills. The game is about skill, not really about gear grind and character levels. The solution is that TRION must implement a level of involvement that rewards higher skill level. That doesn't have to be better gear, just unique gear which is actually a challenge to get, and simply doesn't involve time online.
Shooting a crystal has nothing to do with gear progression, i was making the point that even when Trion decide to add more Co-ops or whatever, without that gear myself and others that think the way i do are going to be back in the same boat. Do the new Co-ops once for the pursuit and then have no reason to go back into them.

Again though, this is Defiance, not WoW.

As a matter of interest, and this is not a troll. I am simply interested in the answer from a developers point of view. I own a small development company and I'm always interested in why people stop playing something they were obviously heavily invested in. What made you stop playing WoW after such a long time in country?

    Yup, pretty useless.

Only thing it's a nuisance or even noticeable for is when you're trying to buy a weapon off the forums, and it has like a 4000 ego rating or something xD

None of those games came anywhere near their expected potential.
DCUO is successful. Not was. The servers are still up, and they are still pulling in money for it. Same with GW, same with FFXI, same with all other current MMOs that have been up for a good period of time. The games are still up because they are successful. If they weren't successful, their servers would be offline...correct? Trion underestimated their success. They have stated it themselves. At least 20% of the people that have purchased the game have already quit the game. They either returned it to their local retailer or are putting on the shelf and hoping the game begins to offer more (which I can't speak for everyone, but I personally expected a lot more. Especially after the beta.)

This. I very much agree with this. Thank you for adding a wonderful and constructive addition, and not adding to the "GO BACK 2 WoW u MMO n00b" comments. I thank you for that.

You made my point for me. All of those games had exactly the same level of ZOMG this game is rubbish it's gonna fail on the forums. I was there for all of them except FFXI (never could get into that). Anyway the point is, haters gonna hate, and fanbois gonna... eh? Fan? Defiance hasn't failed, and will not fail. The doom talkers, talk like Defiance will shut down at the end of the month... Unless, THEY get what THEY want. We don't know what the future holds for Defiance, sure TRION could be a tad more transparent about the DLC, I believe that would go some way to alleviating the frustration many feel. It's been said repeatedly, doesn't make it any less true, it's only the end of the first month. Lets see what they got before we hang 'em high.

The fixes for content and progression are fairly simple, nothing needs to be changed with the exception of the difficulty of gaining rewards. That way it allows us the chance to puff out our chests and say I did that!

Go back to WoW helps no one, who the hell am I going to play with if everyone goes back to WoW? WoW's $hite anyway :P

    It's SHOOTER

Guys, This is SHOOTER Game with mmo element. If you were playing like a MMORPG, You'd absolutely be disappointed. Imagine, if there was much progression, so people'd whine about how OP grinders are, lvl ego 50 would never beat player EGO 2000.

They made the right choice about this. But you know still, people with high lvl still have slight advantage than the people with low lvl Here's why:

    I'm talking about pvp,
    - More perk slots, more skills,
    - Gun progressions, you get 5% damage in last lvl (which i consider a slight advantage. but not a gap)
    - you get a little better stats on gear (not mention gun base stats, dmg)

And that's all about it. it's the game grind- to - pvp, not mmorpg

it's shooter that you need to work not only on pvp, but also pve.

    Please be noted !!

Did you pull those numbers out of thin air, or was there something released that had that info in it? If the second I would be very interesting in reading the original source material.
