How is this different than any other shooter then? when you can simply hide around a corner and suck on some asphalt until your limbs regenerate

The only thing that gets better with Higher EGO are shields from what I have seen. Sure you get more skill points, but only being about to equip 5-6 of them before you have to start the real grind is almost pointless. 90% of the skills really don't help anyway.

As has been stated ad nauseum, and I will now repeat...

Shields and grenades show a very noticeable improvement as you level up, it really starts being noticeable at around 1000 ego. I was using a 178 shield w/ regen and at 1000'ish I finally came across the equivalent shield, same rarity and it had a solid 15% higher rating, I then found a purple one and it had about the same shield amount, but the regen was 50% instead of 25%.

On weapons, the differences are really minor, the main difference is the number of available mod slots (which are generally 3-4 on 1000+ wpns and they will start to also have 1-3 perks on the weapon depending on rarity. Not huge differences, but enough that I think you are wasting bits opening crates before hitting 1000 ego.

Enjoying the game for the same reason. The flatter weapon advancement (primarily through weapon skill advancement) means I can use whatever gun sounds fun and go have a blast doing what's fun in this game, shooting things.

And ego rating isn't entirely useless. Shields and grenades improve gradually as ego increases, and weapons get more bonuses and starting mod slots as your ego increases (following a pattern that does drop the starting slots back down and then builds them up again as ego continues to increase. Extra perk slots can be potent too.

Weapon skills are the larger part of progression, and the bonuses they provide do add up, just not as extremely as the huge power curves common in mmorpgs.

Oh, you're sad because you can't farm and grind...

Why someone that can spend hours and days on a videogame should have advantage on one that can play just a few hours?
Because WOW did like that and then all other game should be the same? then go back playing WOW...

In Defiance you level up your skill yourself, this is not a kid game where you just have to play hours to be uberoverpoweroneshotnoobs... in this game if you're bad at EGO 20 and still bad at EGO 2000, the problem is you, not the game!!

Your post is bad, and you should feel bad. Trash talking and "go back to WoW" does not contribute anything to the conversation.

Face it hardcore WoW, GW, LOTRO players will be disappointed. CoD, BF, Ghost Recon players will be disappointed. This isn't an MMO or a FPS. This is a hybrid, new territory, innovation. You kids don't remember before halo, or Everquest whichever group you belong to. This is the beginning of something, Trion is making an effort, a darn good one. Things are always rough at the beginning, ride it out. This game has many strong points, so enjoy them with an open mind. Don't hope for a clone of what you've been playing..experiment.
