There is no loot drops that are better than the typical white drop to found. A white SAW will wreck everything the same as an orange one, which is fine, except that it's not. Since there is literally 0 content once you've finished all the side quests and the campaign, there is no reason what so ever to keep playing. You are not going to find that amazing item that will boost your character, you're not going to play through new and exciting content, because there is none to be had. And you're going to see no real character progression outside of some generic abilities that will do absolutely nothing to set you apart because almost all of the choices are worthless in terms of stats.
Neverwinter has a section for strictly user generated content outside of the main quest lines. There are already 7 or 8 truly game worthy user generated campaigns(literally, some are 4 or 5 quest chains long) that offer unique and lore rich stories with more being added almost daily. There will never be a lack of content to play through, and the best part is that it still has the action and skill based combat system that made defiance so appealing. The major difference is that the abilities you choose to use are all equally as powerful depending on how well you use them and whether or not you know the proper situations to use each one. But there are no rotations, you simply have to understand your abilities and use them, stuns to stun, cloaks to cloak, etc. And it offers you several ways to set yourself apart because skill and ability choice can be a big factor. Not changing out your abilities for aoe options during mob grind portions means you won't be at the top of the leader board, etc.
It offers the MMORPG progression, with endless content options to pick from(you can even make your own if you want) and it offers really unique stat choices, and there is no one build fits all because depending on how you play and your playstyle, you could mix and match a multitude of stats and be every bit as effective as someone who builds different than yours. It requires a bit of patience but I believe it offers everything that attracted people to defiance with all of the stuff that defiance should have had at launch. And it's still just entering open beta, f2p, and fully fleshed out with all of the stuff missing from defiance.
I hate to say it, but I think Trion really screwed the pooch on this one, because if a f2p game can release with all of that(into an open beta, not even final release, although I would call it a soft release myself), then what exactly was Trion doing with all of this production time?
