    Hi,

Nice OP, I'd like to add something which a lot of young people probably won't recognize, a word called "Obsession" which is people who play computer games to the extent it becomes an Obsession and if even family members walk into the room and disturb you, you get annoyed because your that obsessed with the game your playing, nothing else around you matters. All you think about is getting home from school and playing computer games. Even when your not on a game you want to be talking about it, and most of your day is thinking about playing your games, be it defiance/crysis/wow what ever game your playing.

Usually it's because you have a lot of time on your hands and don't socialize as much as you should do, this shows on forums with peoples attitudes towards others who disagree with what a person has to say and people get the aggressive tone in their posts, that is usually down to not knowing how to socialize properly and we've all been there at sometime or other. It boils down to thinking before typing, why your saying what your saying and try never to post when your in a mood or angry, as you always regret saying it after or see things in a different light.

You do grow out of it eventually..

Thanks Codebreaker. I used to be pretty obsessed about playing games. For me, it stopped several years and a few games ago. I'm at the point now where I play less than 10 hours a week, and that's across two games; DAoC and Defiance. I do, however enjoy my play time. That's what caused me to start this thread. I sense from the forums that a lot of people aren't enjoying their play time very much. (Yeah, I AM on the forums a LOT. It's an obsession. )

With all respect, I fail to see how that applies to the content of this thread. It's actually quite troll-ish, considering it's anti-gamer on a game forum.

The secret is to not really notice the 3LCs. I walk thru a field of clover and scan the field without focusing on the normal background stuff of the 3LCs. Every few steps, I'll notice something that looks a bit different. Usually, it's just a couple of 3LCs intertwined but every once in a while it's a 4LC (or even a 5 or 6). I only need to examine a few dozen of these different looking clovers to find my 4LC for the day.

What's that got to do with MMOs, you might ask... It's about what we focus on. MMOs have lots of different features/aspects. IF we allow ourselves to focus on the aspects of a game that we don't enjoy, we might not notice the aspects that we do like. I don't like bugs or flawed design. When I find a unique one, I shoot off a bug report and then forget about it. I find the game play in Defiance to be fun, so that's where I focus my attention.

Give it a try folks. Focus on the aspects that are fun for you and see if you don't end up finding even more ways to have fun. I play games to have fun, and I'm having fun in Defiance.

People will see my post in different ways, like yourself..But you'll no doute see something of yourself in what I've said, As I said in the post we've all been there. I was agreeing with MacDeath and also adding that people who get aggressive and argumentative are usually Obsessed with their gaming activities, again I base this on my own experiences when I was younger. And this is why forums are like they are, because people get Obsessed, rather than seeing a game as an aid to relax and have fun and socialize.

This is why forums are always full of people arguing, people get Obsessed, or are pashanet about a game they can't understand why people don't agree with them....It's just Life..

    Ah, another crazy Dane.
We do have the reputation as the happiest people in the world. (I assume Bornholm raises our average a LOT. The loc you give with your Avatar would place you in the Århus area, no? You J-landers aren't noted to be as crazy as we over here on the Devil's island.)
