Maybe on the console gaming end, but not for an MMO, even a B2P one.

I got more than 2 weeks of missions out of GW2, and when I left (longer than 2 weeks and 25 hours) I had yet to finish all the quests.

The Secret World, played for over 2 months and had not gotten anywhere near completed on the missions.

Both games were played far more than 25 hours. Both games are B2P.

Except we wanted what was advertised.

And it's very lacking in what was advertised that was a swaying point for many.
If I was buying just for a 7-12 hour single player experience.......I would have bought something different........probably be cheaper. Or better yet.......I could probably find one free.

There are plenty of other threads on that so it's better not to go into that.
MMOs are great when they work correctly and are implemented well.

That's on the public side of the bank.

This is why I like Defiance, 'cause I can find fun anywhere. (yes, big nod to the OP)

Defiance is partially ruled by the "rule of law," partly by the "law of the jungle." That's just like our real world. Big difference to the real world - you're not in danger of any one else unless you _volunteer_ (PvP). IRL, people can mess with you if they find it worth their time, and some do.

But is real life ruled by law, or does the law of the jungle rule? It's both, but for most ppl, it's mostly a jungle out there. People love to think that courts are where the law is (I think that's Title 12, CFR), but that's what they want you to think so they can jungle you out of your money/time/life while you think there's real law at work. Real Law is only in your heart. Use it or lose it.

Dollars?. . . (laughing to myself). . . i see these ppl on these forums all worked up that Trion is doing a money grab with this and that and the other. and "bits are too expensive." If people had any idea the raw deal they get when they're chasing dollars....

Bits are a way better deal. And you won't catch me exchanging my life/time/money for them. Pretty dang careful what I do for and with dollars, too :-)

I won't defend Trion's advertising but I got the impression closer to release they were leaning heavy on the "third-person shooter" over traditional MMORPG. This roughly translates to a lot of the expected replay value of Defiance to be tied up in the multiplayer modes grinding for Ark Salvage. This would've worked (or at least been better received) if the weapon scaling, properties, and functionality would've been more interesting.

Some of you expected a massive sprawling RPG story while I expected Borderlands 2 with an MMO persistent world.

So what do you do if your 4 leaf clover counter keeps resetting everytime you go back inside?

Thanks. I still find quite a few. About 10 years ago, I needed to return to the US for a month. My wife needed to stay in Denmark. Prior to leaving I found 30+ 4LC and gave em to her to press in a book. So she would have a 4LC for every day I was gone.

Its great that your enjoying the game but enjoying the game because you managed to find one thing that makes you happy is nothing more than deluding yourself into believing a game is good. There are good things about defiance no doubt and I honestly love alot of things about defiance, sadly the game was released with so little content that it feels nothing like an ever expanding world. Its an MMO without basic social functions, severe group limitations and programming that purposely limits interacting with people in the world.

The foundation of the game is fun and enjoyable but it is not an MMO anymore than a game like Borderlands is an MMO at this point sadly with less content. Those of us not clinging onto the 4LC have realised their are games out there where you have no need to hunt for something good because its everywhere. At some point even Trion is going to have to admit the truth and concede that they overestimated the quality of their product and only then will they begin building back up the trust they lost from alot of us. The game isnt great but it could be but im sorry im not willing to pretend the game is great now while waiting for it to become great.
