ammo crates. They are shiny and can usually find one in every main story mission. They completely fill your ammo for all your guns and can be used an infinite amount of times. Also enemy drop lots of ammo, but it most likely will only give you amm for your currently equipped weapon. So you need to switch to the weapon that you want to pick up ammo for. It's convoluted I know.
